For Dad

Father's Day will be upon us this weekend. I have a few cards to make and took the opportunity to get started by playing in the Splitcoast Colour Challenge Yesterday

I used  the Journal your art out Grungy set from Stamping Bella to create this masculine card.
There are all sorts of fun stamps in here that would work great with cards as well as in a journal

The sentiment is from The Stamps of Life All4Dads

My Dad is generally a happy and hard working guy. Sadly, he tore a tendon in his knee and has been "grounded" for the last few weeks, which is extremely frustrating for him. His mobility has been great affected and having to spend the day between the den and the bedroom is not his cup of tea.

Of course this is affecting Sydney too as she is used to her daily truck ventures and "working" right along with Grandpa.

He seems to be mending slowly, but surely and I pray that he is up and on his feet again soon!

Stamps of Life and Clearsnap!

Good Morning!

I love two sweet Bee Sets from the {Stamps} of Life

I also used the following Stephanie Barnard Clearsnap Products

Ink Pads Set2 (Banana)
Ink Pads Set1 (Licorice)

and Finally, I added some Goldrush Smooch Glitz to the Hive

Vintage Hello and Momma's got her eye on you!!!!

Have I ever mentioned how much I love the versatility of Stamps?
No matter WHAT your style, you can use your stamps to achieve the look that you want.

Case in point: the the two cards I am featuring today!!! Completely different styles. That is WHY I kind of get a glazed over look when I am asked to describe my style. Is it that I have none? I just play with my stamps and go with what feels right at the time~

I LOVE the vintage look that I created on the first card. Using all sorts of supplies from Bev's stamping stash when I was in Texas, I turned out this beauty. There are a few occasions that my own work makes me go "WOW" and this is one of them. Actually, come to think of it, I think it's when I create these vintagy feeling cards. They remind me of some of my Grandmothers tatted lace slipcovers and quilts. A warm, comfortable feeling. For this card I used the Phone4you set for the base phone, but paired it with the sentiment from the  newly released phones2decorate
Using Stephanies Sizzix Heart Dies, I created a base to ground the phone on.

This little charmer reflects my at times, WACKY Personality!!! and twisted sense of humour
I wanted something bright and vibrant and busy....just like my Mama!!!  The idea to add the eyeball in the centre of the phone is that you should always conduct yourself as if your Mother has an eye on you!!!  The sentiment and funky phone design is in the phones2decorate set. I LOVE the sentiment as that is what my mom says when she leaves a message on my phone....well not always please, but call your mother.....lol. Speaking of Mom's, I'm totally looking forward to Mother's Day weekend. We are going on a little Wine Tasting excursion to Prince Edward County on Saturday and I've promised to assist her with some gardening on Sunday (I am not a fan of gardening, but it IS Mother's Day!)

Here's a picture of Me and My Mother on a Red Hat excursion last year

She's such a pretty one!!! This year it's not a Red Hat excursion, but a Road Trip with her Beta Sigma Phi Girlfriends.....hoping to get some good photos of the gorgeous scenery and my Beautiful Mom!

Happy Stamping!

What's up? New stamps from The Stamps of Life. That's what!

Stephanie's Club set for this Month is up!!!!
Phones4you is absolutely A-Dorable!

You can check out the new set HERE

For my manly card, I used a base of Shades of Grey Paper from The Paper Loft
I embossed my Vintage Phone so it would be NICE and SHINY....

Y'all know I'm attracted to Shiny things!!!! lol

The phone in this card reminds me of my Aunt Eunice, who used to like to wear animal prints!
So if you are following my blog from above Aunt Eunice, this one is for you!
Paper is from The Hobby Lobby!!!!

Will have some more samples up for you a little later this week!

Happy Stamping!

More Minitags2cut!!...

Good Morning
Hoping that you had a great weekend. We enjoyed beautiful weather here, which was great because i attended a baseball practice. Baseball practice you say??? Yep! i joined a slo pitch team.

This is unusually funny because i am an artist and NOT an athlete!

My friend Tracey convinced me to join.....glad she did!

Sooo I was very nervous given the fact that i have never played on a ball team. In fact other than playing a bit in grade school, i've only played baseball twice as an adult.
I can't say that I'm a Babe Ruth by any standards, but I managed to catch the ball a few times and when up to bat, I was pleasantly surprised that my bat made contact with the ball more often than not!!!! I'm not a total wash up!!

Thank goodness I have a little more confidence about my art!

I made more flowers with the Minitags2cut set. I absolutely love these easy little floral shapes and hope to make a little vid tutorial in the next couple of weeks.

Not this week! it's going to be crazy busy here as it's Victopia weekend next weekend.
I can hardly wait for my girlies to arrive for our annual scrappin' and stamping sleepover!!!!
You can find many of the supplies that I used for these cards over at

including the minitags2cut stamp and Die set

Lots of Lady Bugs!

Wanted to share a couple of new cards made with the {Stamps} of Life April Stamp Set Ladybugs2Love. I Love Lady Bugs! For me, they have a special significance in that I believe that Lady Bugs are Lucky!!!

Shortly after I lost my first son Timothy, I was expecting Jonathon. Because I had gone to full term before Timothy had passed, I was terrified the entire time I was carrying Jon. After my first ultrasound, there were some concerns and as a result, we had to go for genetic testing. It was horrible enough to be so afraid and then to have to go through this process just about threw me over the edge. Here's where the Lady Bugs come in..... I was waiting for the results of the tests and worrying....and worrying. One day I found a Lady Bug in one of the houseplants and for some reason, it made me feel like everything was going to be okay. Now I know that the Ladybug cannot change one's fate, however it did allow me to change my thinking, easing my level of stress immensely. All was okay with the tests, but as the pregnancy progressed I became increasingly nervous that we would not make it to the end. There were so many times I was afraid and it always seemed that each time it got to be too much to bear, a lady bug would appear. A symbol of hope. A symbol that all was going to be okay. It wasn't just at home I would find the lady bugs.... I saw them in my office, at my mothers and here and there outside. Perhaps it was a sign from my Angel Timothy that everything would work out and that I would deliver a healthy baby. I am blessed to have Jonathon in my life and each time I see a Lady Bug, appreciative of the power that little creature had upon my ability to shift my thoughts to a more positive state.

Lady Bugs are Lucky~

Just Chillin and Adore. A couple of Layouts for My Scraps & More Sketch Challenge

Wanted so share a couple of Layouts that I created for My Scraps & More Challenges 9 & 10

The first is of my Beautiful Mother. We were in the Mayan Riviera last January and had a wonderful time. We're on the road again soon! Off to Cuba in two weeks and this time, taking Jon and my Aunt Mary along! Can't WAIT!!!!!

The Papers and Accessories are from CTMH

Check out the Challenges at

This challenge is Sketch 10. Although it got away on me a bit, I still like it!

I used the fun Hexagon2love set from The Stamps of Life to create my border with Stephanies Yummy Strawberry and Blueberry Ink.......hmmmm now that 's making me Hungry.

Aren't the Lilie's Beautiful? With each day that passed, the Flowers opened up just a touch more,,,,,they were still incredibly pretty when we left Mexico after one week!

The Paper Loft Sketch Challenge 2

There's a new Sketch Challenge going on at the Paper Loft!
Hope that you'll participate and perhaps you can join us on the Design Team in March! How exciting would that be??

For my Layout, I used papers from the Funkysaurus collection!
I love this picture of Jonathon on his First Birthday....check out the dippity doo on top of his head. I'm SURE he will love me for styling it that way.....actually, I think we can blame Grandma for that!
Look at that sweet dimply chin.....still one of his finest features I think!

Here's the Sketch if you want to play along

I complemented my layout with Stamps from the {Stamps} of Life

The sentiments and arrows are from the latest release

Lots of Fun!

Happy Stamping and be sure to head on over to the Paper Loft Blog to link up your project!

You are Fabulous! Crafting Resolutions!

I took some time to play the Splitcoaststampers Way to Use it Challenge
The challenge was to revisit last years resolution to see if you had followed through. Since I didn't establish a resolution last year, I thought what a better time to make one! So.....my resolution is to use more background stamps this year! I have some amazing ones, but have a tendency to lean toward using Designer Paper. So this year, you will see more background stamps!!! I may even step it up a notch and do some techniques with backgrounds as well! We'll see, baby steps first. I hope you enjoyed a nice Christmas. We had a quiet day, but it is always good to spend family time.

It's hard to believe that 2012 is quickly coming to an end and the New Year is less than a week away....sheesh, the older I get, the quicker time flies by~

Well i'm off to have a warm bath and get the winter chill out of my bones

Have a great night~

Just be yourself

I'm really enjoying my tenure on the Paper Loft Design Team. One of the main reason's why is that it has whet my appetite for scrapbooking again. It's something that I have got away from over the years as my focus has been mainly on making cards. I have a lot of pictures and stories that need to be told, so I see this opportunity as a real opportunity to get back to my roots. If I hadn't have started Scrapbooking, I would have never discovered stamping. I like the fact that I can use both in my creations

For this page, I used papers from the Easy Breezy Scrapbook line. I also incorporated some fun stamps and dies from The {Stamps} of Life- Postage2stamp and Postmarks2stamp. How fun! I also used Fancy Labels 4 to create a little embellishment to the right of Jon's picture.

This page is SO appropriate for Jon. He is totally his own person and I'm very proud of him for that.
I really don't know how much I've been an influence in that regard, but I do know that he is far more his own person at 16 years of age, than I was at 25.

Hope you're enjoying this post as much as I enjoyed creating the page!

The 10 minute craft dash

I have to tell you that I am totally GROOVIN on this challenge, cause first of all, it's a GROOVY CHALLENGE....fresh and different and secondly because this week the colours are

TOTALLY GROOVALICIOUS!!!!

Thirdly......hmm is Thirdly actually a words

Thirdly, creating a card in under 10 minutes is TOTALLY a challenge for me!

KUDOS to Pretty Pink Posh for setting up this challenge, cause believe me, it's a RARITY that I ever participate in challenges.......EVER, but I was wiggling on the edge of my seat waiting for this one to come out......YES!! Seriously WIGGLING....and can you imagine my pure glee when I could get the scoop on the challenge just by liking the Facebook Page......how COOL is that!!!!

Kay, so Seriously Pretty Pink Girl, I am not saying this to butter up for a prize.....lol although those Lawn Fawn stamps are SUPER Cute!!! What I'm sayin' is that I love this challenge SO MUCH that I created TWO cards.....yep two!!!

SO here's the lowdown on the cards

Time: 9:48

Yep, beat my time from last week. It would have been a LOT quicker, except I fiddled around for awhile with that button and twine treatment. But if you noticed, I did have some time to add glitter on my Tree! ACTUALLY, I ran the die cut through the Xyron so I could bedazzle it in record time!!!

SHAZAM!!! Another Christmas Card Created -Double YAY
When you are a known cardmaker, it is a HUGE Faux Pas to EVER give someone a store bought card

EVER......

Notice that I kept my colours muted? That is because my palette rarely see's a blend of such brightness. Every once in awhile you'll see something bright and bold, but I think I tend to be more attracted to Earth and muted tones. So, the kraft cardstock tones it all down quite a bit don't you think?

Supplies:

Bakers Twine-The Twinery
Buttons and Glitter-Misc

So then I REALLY got daring

I hope that you had your sunglasses on while looking at this baby!

SO I am TOTALLY getting better at creating QUICK cards!!!

My time...........9:46...Not particularly swift, but a little better than my last effort

Holy Geez, you people, you are going to have me creating copious amounts of pink, yellow and green time just to beat my record. This could get more addicting than Scramble with Friends!!!

Anyhoo........I like this card. The only thing that is kind of off for me is that HUGE HONKIN BOW. That being said, I didn't have time to create another.

ALSO

I would have liked to glitter the flowers a bit and I probably could have still made the 10 minute mark, but I wasn't giving up my world record! If I keep this up, I'll be ready for the Card Dashin' Olympics by Spring!! I am having a blast with this challenge and a ton of fun writing up the post. It's bringing out my playful side and also allowing me to continue to procrastinate doing the dishes and watching the two university lectures that await me on my laptop. Oh well, I'd rather be stamping!

Supplies

Stamps:

Onsie4baby and Onsie Die-The {Stamps of Life}

Happy Stamping!
