Playing with Paper Loft!

I have some fun news to share with you today! I'm blessed to have been chosen to be a part of The Paper Lofts Design Team~ The designer paper is gorgeous and the accessory sheets fabulous to work with. I've had this sweet picture of Jonathon sitting on my mantel for awhile, waiting to be made into a page. I really like how Everyday Life Collection worked with this photograph

The Sky's the limit paper really made his gorgeous blue eyes pop! from the page. The weight of the Paper is heavy enough to work well as a base for a layout. For accent, I used the Live your Dream and Forward Progress papers. The Sentiments and accents come from the Happy and Good times accessory sheets. I sponged some creamy caramel ink to all the edges just to soften them a bit.

I'm very excited about being on this Design Team as I think it will give me a bit of a push to get more Scrapbooking done. Unlike my card style, which is all over the place, my scrapping style seems to be rather simplistic. I have so many pictures that need to be scrapped, so I am going to push myself to do at least a few layouts every month!

What about those scraps? There's always leftovers after completing a layout and what better to do with them? Make a card! The accessory sheets are perfect for cardmaking. I favour plain cardstock over stickers-WHY? Because when I make cards with stickers and pop the image up with dimensional tape, it always seems to fall down in the middle. Again, the weight of the cardstock designer paper is heavy enough for a card base! YES!!!! I like the look of patterned cards, as you can see here in this project.

I used the Life accessory sheet for this card!

Even decorated the inside!

Easy Peasy!!!

You will be absolutely Astonished with all of the Papercrafting Heavyweights that I get to play with!

Hope you enjoy my scrappiness!

Hoppin' one last time with IOstamps Dies!

Sadly, this is the last day of the hop, but don't worry, I know the Design Team is Crazy about the new dies and you're going to see many many more projects with them. As you can see in my card, you can use the dies as stencils. FUN! Fun! Fun! I just used the cut out from the die on my card, placed it over the card base and sponged away!!!

"Die"ing to Hop with IOstamps day 2

Today I want to share this fun little gift box that I created with the Fancy Ornament and Mini Rectangles Tags 2 Die. I cut the Fry Box with my Cricut Cartridge and then cut the die and overlayed it  onto some foiled paper. I added some Stickles to teh little gift bag and around the upper edges of the box to add some more pizzaz! Don't forget to comment on all the blogs today for a chance to win!

Here's today's Projects. Please follow the links on my sidebar to see the projects as I'm to pooped to add in all the links and can't seem to copy them....(still learning the ins and outs of my Mac)

Hoppin' Happy about IOstamps Dies!

I have been totally DYING to share my fun scrapbook page with you! It's the first project I created when I received my designer package of stamps!!! I knew these adorable Mittens and Snowflakes would be PERFECT for a layout.....PERFECT!!!
We're all stoked about IO's new Die release and so we're having a 3 Day HOP to celebrate!!!
Here is the list of participants for today:

Here's a close up on those Delicious Mittens and you can probably see the subtle snowflakes I stamped in White Craft Ink on my Kraft Background!

I remember playing for hours and hours in the snow with sweet Jonathon. I think he was around 5  or 6 years old in these pictures. I'm quite sure of that, because that's my old Mustang in the back. I've had my new mustang for about 3 years now and I had a truck before that for almost 5 years, so that's about right! Look at those Rosy cheeks.....lol

Make sure you leave a comment each day on the DT blogs, as there will be one lucky winner every day of a set of three dies of their choice! How does that grab you!

Will  be back with Wellness Wednesday next week, although I will say I did a little better with my goals and the scale is a little lighter!!!

I had a blast tonight combing the Touch Marker and Card Positioning System Challenges

I received these newly release images from Stampotique about a month ago and  thought that this Crooked House would be perfect for this wonderfully colourful inspiration challenge!

Of course I had to add this Fun Sign as well

Here's my colour map!
The awesome Fence Die is from IOstamps

My card is loosely based on the Flipped Sketch..... I used a LOT of creative Licence here!!!

The 10 minute craft dash

I have to tell you that I am totally GROOVIN on this challenge, cause first of all, it's a GROOVY CHALLENGE....fresh and different and secondly because this week the colours are

TOTALLY GROOVALICIOUS!!!!

Thirdly......hmm is Thirdly actually a words

Thirdly, creating a card in under 10 minutes is TOTALLY a challenge for me!

KUDOS to Pretty Pink Posh for setting up this challenge, cause believe me, it's a RARITY that I ever participate in challenges.......EVER, but I was wiggling on the edge of my seat waiting for this one to come out......YES!! Seriously WIGGLING....and can you imagine my pure glee when I could get the scoop on the challenge just by liking the Facebook Page......how COOL is that!!!!

Kay, so Seriously Pretty Pink Girl, I am not saying this to butter up for a prize.....lol although those Lawn Fawn stamps are SUPER Cute!!! What I'm sayin' is that I love this challenge SO MUCH that I created TWO cards.....yep two!!!

SO here's the lowdown on the cards

Time: 9:48

Yep, beat my time from last week. It would have been a LOT quicker, except I fiddled around for awhile with that button and twine treatment. But if you noticed, I did have some time to add glitter on my Tree! ACTUALLY, I ran the die cut through the Xyron so I could bedazzle it in record time!!!

SHAZAM!!! Another Christmas Card Created -Double YAY
When you are a known cardmaker, it is a HUGE Faux Pas to EVER give someone a store bought card

EVER......

Notice that I kept my colours muted? That is because my palette rarely see's a blend of such brightness. Every once in awhile you'll see something bright and bold, but I think I tend to be more attracted to Earth and muted tones. So, the kraft cardstock tones it all down quite a bit don't you think?

Supplies:

Bakers Twine-The Twinery
Buttons and Glitter-Misc

So then I REALLY got daring

I hope that you had your sunglasses on while looking at this baby!

SO I am TOTALLY getting better at creating QUICK cards!!!

My time...........9:46...Not particularly swift, but a little better than my last effort

Holy Geez, you people, you are going to have me creating copious amounts of pink, yellow and green time just to beat my record. This could get more addicting than Scramble with Friends!!!

Anyhoo........I like this card. The only thing that is kind of off for me is that HUGE HONKIN BOW. That being said, I didn't have time to create another.

ALSO

I would have liked to glitter the flowers a bit and I probably could have still made the 10 minute mark, but I wasn't giving up my world record! If I keep this up, I'll be ready for the Card Dashin' Olympics by Spring!! I am having a blast with this challenge and a ton of fun writing up the post. It's bringing out my playful side and also allowing me to continue to procrastinate doing the dishes and watching the two university lectures that await me on my laptop. Oh well, I'd rather be stamping!

Impression Obsession Challenge-Inspired by Nature

Today's challenge is to create a card inspired by nature. I am ALWAYS inspired by nature, especially in Spring and Autumn when the colours are vivid and bright and the scents are strong. There is nothing like the smell of burning leaves in the crisp autumn air. I created this card as I was inspired by the changing of the leaves on the trees that I pass on my daily walks with Sydney.

We have a full house for the challenge today, so be sure to hop on over to the IOstamps blog to get the links and the details of how you can play to win!

Wellness Wednesday-Fessin' Up!

Good Morning!

They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions, what do you think? I think that there's some merit to that for sure. When I posted last week, I was feeling very motivated to follow through on my goal of eating healthy and moving. I was SURE that i'd be back this week posting some great results. My motivation was high and I was confident that it wouldn't falter.

I maintained a very good focus through the week and even to a certain degree on the weekend. I love to cook and experiment with new recipes. The weekend before I had made my first Fetucinne Alfredo to go along with a lovely Chicken Parmesan. I made the sauce with fresh tomatoes from Pauls garden and it was absolutely scrumptious!!! Of course as you know, the calorie and fat content in this dish is a dieters suicide, but I enjoyed it anyway. I think it's really important at times to enjoy a little of what you like. From past successes, I know that I can afford to have one really rich meal a week and still maintain my weight loss goals, but when my motivation isn't at its peak, I have a tendency to extend that one meal into days and weeks of eating with reckless abandon. It's not really about the quantity for me, but the food choices that I make. I fight the urge to eat chocolate on a daily basis and I do like my nuts (hehe....thank goodness i'm a woman, or that could surely be misinterpreted!) but nuts are meant to be enjoyed in tiny amounts to reap the health benefits.

So here's the down and dirty on the week. I moved! In fact I took several nice long walks with Sydney earlier in the week and on Saturday. My food choices for the most part weren't bad, up until Saturday night. I started off planning a nice grilled steak dinner with baked potatoes (which I never really eat), fresh Cauliflour from the garden. It was the pumpkin pie that killed me! I did plan on just having a sliver and I rarely eat the pastry (NO , not to cut calories.....I could be all righteous and say that I do, but that would just be a huge fib, cause I will eat pastry when my mom is making pie and fills the leftover with butter, brown sugar and cinnamon) but I did eat a substantial amount of the filling with cool whip (light of course!) Any how, I never really got my momentum back after Saturday and picked at the pie on Sunday and Monday......Succumbed to my craving for chocolate chip cookies on Monday and ate a few of those through tuesday as well...........so, as a result.....

I feel tired. I can definitely feel a difference in my energy levels when I am not eating healthy and in particular when I eat sugary foods

I am up two pounds on the scale this morning. This is sad, because I was DOWN two pounds on Friday. I truly wanted to avoid the scale as I was afraid to step on. I'm not going to get on until next week when I write this post....it's too hard for me

I feel bloated and I don't feel like my clothes are fitting better this week......go figure

I feel slightly embarrassed that I'm writing about my lack of success, rather than my achievement

I feel like I can pick myself up this morning, dust off and start over. I am a person that has a certain sense of pride and I KNOW that I am too proud to come here every wednesday and write about all the unhealthy habits i've been engaging in the week prior. I thought of "conveniently" skipping the post this week, but last week I spoke about accountability. Accountability goes hand in hand with honesty.

Honesty is such a lonely word....NO WAIT....isn't that a Billy Joel tune......hehe. Honesty is hard sometimes. We all  Most of us have engaged in dishonesty ranging from that little white lie to a big ole whopper (not tonight honey, I have a headache!!! hehe, no REALLY, that outfit looks GREAT on you, Oh I don't remember doing that last night......hmmmm it must have been the tequila). Anyway, you get the picture. When it comes down to it, people can lie all they want, but in the long run, they're only lying to themselves, they're only hurting themselves; they're only self sabotaging and setting the stage for more deception. (Geez......okay now! I have to tell you that I ate Kentucky Fried Chicken yesterday..........yeah, YUCK.........fatty, salty but tasty while it was going in. It's no wonder that I'm not up 6 pounds with all the salt I ingested) Okay, where was I. Yes, accountability and honesty. So here I am being honest because I said last week I was going to be accountable to you all. Really I need to be accountable to me and if I am honest and accountable with myself, then the rest falls in place, I am automatically honest and accountable with others.

What do you all do when you get sidetracked from your goals and get discouraged?

I am starting my morning off with more than a good intention. I am affirming that I'm going to follow through on my goals for this week and make my goals more specific (that's a good thought for another day's post)

This week I will only eat fruit to satisfy my craving for sweets. I will walk for a minimum of 40 minutes each day and complete three 30 minute sessions on the elliptical (boy, I'll sure be tired if I leave THAT one until tuesday night or wednesday morning). I will follow through because I'm sure as not coming back here next week to tell you that I didn't. Pride can go along way with regard to positive change. One of the times that I successfully quit smoking was about 5 years ago, when I had to have major surgery. Most people would think that I quit for health reasons and all the GOOD reasons why people shouldn't be smoking; particularly those who are having major surgery

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

I quit because I had to remain in the hospital for 3 or 4 days and I surely wasn't going to be one of those patients that you see outside of the hospital, arse hanging out of ugly blue gown, hooked up to a hundred wires

WITH BAD HAIR

smoking a cigarette

So yes, my pride can work to my advantage

and I WILL take that!!!

See you next week!

Note: found this great website through pinterest. Andie is a young journalist who has maintained a 135 lb weight loss for over 5 years. She has some wonderful thoughts and recipes for lower calorie foods. She also has some richer recipes as well. She's a good writer and i'm enjoying her website

CPS283

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Mine was pretty low key. Got a little stamping done, along with all the chores the weekend brings. This weeks CPS sketch is a really fun one and is sponsored by My Favourite Things. Isn't she a little sweetheart. I decided to revert from my usual choice of colours to go with something "autumny" . The leaves are starting to change rapidly here

I took this picture yesterday when I was walking Sydney. I am SURE that it was all green just last week. Pretty though and I do love the fall.

Here's the sketch if you want to play along

and of course my colour map

I used a touch of Lime Twist Smooch Glitter to jazz the balloon up a bit, but it's hard to see in this picture. I couldn't find this sweet girl on the website, but there are a lot of sweet little characters over at MFT that you could substitute! Paper is Weekend Market by Bo Bunny. I totally Love this collection. I used a touch of brown bakers twine and inked it with some Tea Dye ink to tone down the white.

Short post tonight, i'm sleepy and my studies await me!

Happy Stamping!

Hurray for Fridays!

Happy Friday!!!

So, do you have any big plans for the weekend? I don't, but I relish the fact that the weekend is mine to do with what I wish. Well, not really. There is always cleaning to catch up on and now that i'm working on my degree, lectures and reading.

I am hoping to get some fishing in this weekend though and a nice walk in the woods or two.

Jon is taking a firearms and hunter safety this weekend, so i'll be taxiing him back and forth. Hmmm maybe the next "gamesy" picture will be of a duck or a deer or something. He is my outdoor guy! Just to think that he used to enjoy stamping with me....lol. He was pretty good at it actually

Here's a card that he created when he was Ten years old. Not bad eh? It took me a bit to find it in my Splitcoast Gallery. Look at me getting all reminiscent. I'm not sure if it's hormonal ( the dreaded "M" word...hehe) but I have been awfully sentimental lately. For instance as I was driving Jonathon to school the other day (this is a rarity now since he has his G1 licence, but GI drivers aren't allowed to drive on the Highway) he was talking about the future. He wants to take a Heavy Equipment Operators course after high school. He said he was considering going out to work in the Oil fields in Alberta for several years, saving his money and retiring early (he gets his financial savvy from his Dad, NOT from me that's for sure). Anyway, as he's telling me this, I can feel my eyes welling up and the tears rolling. JEEPERS! this isn't going to happend for at LEAST TWO YEARS.....what is WRONG with me. I really have no problem with the laugh lines, the droopy boobs and I can deal with the occasional hot flash, but Tears.......C'MON!!!

Uhm, I've also noticed that I have a tendency to get off on a tangent that is totally off the track that I was on. I think it was just about how I was going to spend my weekend, wasn't it?

Did I mention Spider Veins? Yeah EWWWWWW!!! Just little ones, but they're sprouting

Okay! Enough already. I think I'll just show you another peek using some of the September sets from the {Stamps} of life.

The set I used for this pretty Christmas card is called Leaves4fall.
The snowflakes and sentiment are from  Joy2christmas

I absolutely LOVED how this tag turned out. I combined Numbers2stamp with Trees4Christmas to create this fun and funky tag! I love the richness of the Colorbox inks by Stephanie. I used Strawberry, Artichoke and Chocolate.....ahhhh Chocolate. Did I mention that the "M" word and the "C" word go hand in hand....yes, I constantly crave chocolate, but I'm fighting that feeling and being pretty successful, i'll fill you in on wednesday. If not, I may get off on another tangent and who knows where it will take me.

Have an amazing weekend! Enjoy the beautiful autumn weather and if you find the time, get inky!

Good morning! Just a few more shares from the September Stamps of Life Club set, Trees2stamp. I really love these and have made a few cards with the set as they work up very quickly.

I coupled the set with one of Stephanies Flip it dies!

So fun!

What about this view? The fishing has not been great this summer. In june, I caught enough crappie to have a nice fish dinner, but apart from that, the fish really haven't been biting that much.  Some say it got too hot too fast. I don't really know. I do know that I enjoy being out on the water and whether I catch the fish or not is really not the point. Well.....not all the time! I must say that it can be addicting when you are catching them and it's never a bad thing to outfish the boys!!! lol

We went out for about a half an hour last night, just as the sun was hitting the tree lines. I didn't have my DSLR with me, but I did catch the rays on the water with my instagram app.

Serene and Peaceful

A great way to end the day.

This card is pretty similar to the card I posted yesterday. I didn't make this one in 10 minutes though. i had to emboss. I think it's pretty and I may very well copy this for my "bulk" christmas card this year.

My Parents are celebrating their 50th Anniversary next month. Mom has decided she wants a Halloween themed party. Any ideas for invites? They are off enjoying a Mediterranean Cruise and i'd like to have a couple of ideas ready for them (well Mom actually..she's the boss!) when they get home.

Enjoy your day~

Ready, set, GO!

In taking a little time to blog surf this morning, which is a rarity for me, I came across a fun new challenge blog.

So how fun is THAT??? Yep, the challenge is to make a card in 10 minutes or less....Actually that is not an easy task. My card came in, in just under 10 minutes. 9:56 to be exact. Just under the wire. Hmph, I didn't have time to add any extra doodads or glitter, but I like the way it turned out.

Now the truth be known...... did I actually spend just 10 minutes on this card

HELL NO!

LOL

It took me 9:56 to create the card

BUT

the rules say:

You can gather your supplies first.

PHEW

SO I had an idea

THEN

it took me 20 minutes to clear my desk

10 minutes to gather my supplies

and then I got a great brainwave......can you visualize the steam emitting from my ears? Yep, a GREAT idea. I KNEW I had some Designer Paper that would match the colours in the challenge. Found the pad rather quickly, flipped through and YES, it was a perfect match. Got SO excited about that, I spilled an entire bottle of my fave Bevvie.......(NO, I wasn't drinking beer THIS early). Diet Pepsi, sweet nectar of the morning! Ha! Sooooo, it was ALL over my computer desk....the flood quickly moving towards all the good things I have on the desk: My card reader, Kobo, Memory Cards, Sticks etc....and WAY worse than that, my Touch Twin Colour Chart, that I so painstakingly made after losing the first one.....hmph, I guess the third time is a charm.

So, after taking care of that sticky old mess (well actually I piled and dried stuff, but I still have some work to do here!) I sat down to create my card. Fun Stuff, Fun Challenge. I think you should check it out!!! Word of Caution: Start with a tidy craft area

Wellness Wednesday- It's all about accountability....

As in the case of my blog title, i've also been thinking about what I should call this feature. I've been contemplating whether or not this is an appropriate forum for  my musings in this regard, or whether I should start a whole blog all together. I've decided that I have enough blogs to juggle at the moment. Hmmmm could blog juggling be called bloggling? Anyway, so here it is and here it will be. It's my blog, to do with what I wish. I am hoping not to turn off my readers and that in the event that this isn't your thing, you'll at least tolerate my ramblings, if not enjoy them and if I can project an optimistic thought, perhaps even be inspired by a word or two! If all else fails, I'll be happy if some of my banter produces a chuckle!

So, back to my original contemplation-WHAT do I call this column. WHAT is it that I'm getting at? Well it's this. For those of you that have met me in person, you'll know that I'm a hearty woman......lol. For those of you that have known me for many years, you've seen me at various levels of heartiness. Extremely hearty, (Would that be Hearty Har Har?) Quite hearty and I would say Moderately hearty at the moment. You can insert {........} here; other adjectives that could describe hearty: heavy, overweight, chunky, chubby, fat. Please, whatever you do, don't call me a burly girl.......THAT would make me feel like Paul Bunyan or some other sort of iconic Lumberjack! Point is, i've been struggling with my size for most of my life. I've gained a lot of weight, i've lost at least a gazillion pounds, gained some back only to lose again and repeat the cycle.

I must say that I have had some measure of success in maintaining an 85 lb weight loss over a few years ( I had actually lost 107 lbs, but I seem to struggle with  the 22 lbs in between the two numbers. For the last three years i've yo-yo'd up and down between that weight range, when my true goal is to take off about another 25 lbs. I KNOW that some of you may say that it's not all about the weight, but rather the inches or the size of your clothes, or how you FEEL, but I know that it's an approximate number that should bring me to my ultimate goal of wearing a size in the single digits. Now that is the VAIN part of me speaking. My vanity factor has greatly diminished over the years; in fact I feel that I'm aging gracefully and would even go as far to say that I feel far more attractive at 47 than I did at 22, when my hair was much bigger than my waist. My personal drive to get the last bit of excess baggage off my body (geez, to bad I couldn't just hire a bellhop to carry it away) is to feel better overall and having been through this process a gazillion times (you need to do a gazillion different programs to lose a gazillion pounds) I KNOW that I have WAY more energy when i'm eating better and moving. Moving makes me feel GOOD!

I've done almost every diet out there. I've done it on my own (actually, that is how I took off the last chunk) enrolled in extremely expensive programs and with an informal support system. I've had a difficult time remaining motivated in the last year or so and have been thinking about signing up for yet another weight loss program, but then......wheels in motion here, I realize it's really not about the program, but rather the accountability. Having to be accountable to a paid program has been helpful with regard to achieving my goals. Quite frankly, with the cost I am incurring due to my return to University, I simply can't afford to purchase accountability. I know, I really should (and have in the past) been able to be accountable to myself. I'm just finding it difficult. Sooooooo I am enlisting YOU my readers (even if you skip this post) as my support system, my mentor's my people to which i'm accountable. Each week I'm going to keep you posted with my progress with regard to my choice of diet, exercise and progress. I'm not really comfortable displaying my weight on the internet for all to see, but i'll make an honest effort to report my progress with regard to my goal of eating healthy and moving and perhaps how many notches i've reduced on my belt. I'm also going to include a photograph or two...........don't worry, i'm not going to display myself in bicycle shorts and a sports bra, but I think even in a snug t-shirt and some faux lulu's we'll be able to see the difference! I'm going to include some websites that i've found to be helpful, perhaps share some literature and tips for both weight loss and over all wellness............yes, overall wellness is my goal here.

One of the tools that i've been dabbling with over the last year is the My Fitness Pal website. It's a free online community that includes food and exercise tracking, a place to set and track goals and well, a community. You can blog, peruse various discussion boards and the best thing is that it's FREE! You can also get the app for your smart phones, so that you can track ALL day long, wherever you are, so there's really no excuse not to........although I must say i've been hit and miss with this. So my goal for this week is to MOVE 4 days out of 7, to avoid Candy and Desserts and to make a committment to let you all know how i'm doing next week.

I am at an advantage of having a beautiful place to walk each day. Living in a somewhat rural area, I can walk along a road that's not too busy, or I can venture out into the back yard and down the hill into the conservation area. Yesterday, Sydney and I enjoyed a long walk. Here is some of our finds

A sure sign that Autumn is coming!

I find cattails so pretty!

Here's another blog that I find inspirational : The amazing adventures of Dietgirl. Shauna lost 175 lbs over 5 years. It took a long time and like me, she's had her setbacks and regains, but she's seen overall success. Real people; just like me, just like some of you. Essentially, most of us have struggles with something or other, so perhaps the inspiration can be transferred to something that is more conducive to your own personal goals.

See you next week for check in!

And about my project of course. I made this fun journalling page using some stamps and dies from IOstamps. I created my background with Tim Holtz distress inks in Spun Sugar, Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint. The quote is from Maya Angelou. What a strong, determined and intelligent woman she is! I finished off the page with some Diamond glitter for a little  pizzaz and some fun dies from Impression Obsession.

Uncle Jon

Yesterday we paid a visit to meet Jons new niece baby Monica. After a touch and go delivery, sweet baby made her way into the world on the 5th of September. Although she was a couple of weeks early, she still weighed in at over 8 pounds!!! Healthy and beautiful!

Jons hand is almost as large as Monica Irenes. Her middle name was chosen in honour of Jonathon and Jessicas paternal grandmother Gladys Irene, who left us several years ago and watches from above. She was a very sweet and loving woman and we miss her much.

I love this shot. It's not often that you see tender moments like that from a 16 year old boy. We had to nudge him a bit to hold her because she's so tiny. Jons humour came into play to remind me that when we were going to pick out a puppy, he dropped Sydney. Actually, he didn't really drop her, she got away on him with a twist and a wiggle. No worries Jon, wee babies don't jump and you're planted solidly on the couch. Congratulations to my stepdaughter Jessica, her husband Mark, big Sis Joycelyn and Bro's Ethan and Mikey.
