SDC #15-Birthday Theme

SDC15: Birthday Theme using ANY stamps

Kim is our Hostess today and I've complete Cased her text as I am posting this late............Ummmm I have to tell you that I messed up my challenge a wee bit because I thought it was a celebration challenge.........I'm celebrating Halloween with my card.........oh bother, I'd say if I were Winnie the Pooh! anyway in Kim's words:

Today is the first challenge of September and I'm loving that the temperatures are getting a little cooler here in Georgia. While I don't love the warm or cold weather, I do love when it starts to turn fall and the temps start to drop. The in between season is what I love the most.
Our challenge this week has a birthday theme. We have a lot of birthdays in our family in September and so we are thinking birthday all month long-as a matter of fact this card is going to a friend at work who I will be seeing today. Break out those Stampotique stamps if you have them and if you don't feel free to join this week using any stamps you have available. If you haven't seen the awesome new stamps released this month at Stampotique, run over there and check them out now. Our design team member, Jo Capper-Sandon has some fabulous newly released stamps and there are some phenomenal new Jill Penney & Daniel Torrente stamps as well.

I do have to tell you though, as much as I screwed up my theme, I LOVED making this card....from the Background Paper to the main image and the sentiment, it was pure bliss!

I created the background using Pearlescent Paper, stamping the Star Background
in versamark and embossing with Ultrafine white Embossing Powder. I then went direct to paper with Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink. I coloured Le Sorciere in Copic Markers(that little dog makes me giggle!). When I want to give my image a little bit of a watercolour feel, I always leave some white space. I then stamped the Spirit Definition in Navy Ink, tore around the sentiment and sponged with more Tumbled Glass Ink. I used a complimentary Border Punch from EK Success to do the Brilliant Blue Border, then tied some mustard ribbon in to tie in the colour of the dog, adding the small leave embellishment to add a third element of the earth tone. The wee stars are from some bags of Dollar Store Confetti I had kicking around.

Be sure that you leave some love for my fellow DT ladies by stopping by their blogs. You can find the Links on my sidebar, along with the Challenge Blog to link up your creations!

Happy Stamping!
