Crazy 4 Challenges 109-Heat it up!

Before we get into today's challenge, as this week is a sponsored challenge, we need to introduce this month's sponsor which is Outlines Rubber Stamps. They have lots of fun stamps on there site, so if you haven’t visited them before you might want to head on over there to see their range. Outlines has generously offered a $25 gift certificate for one lucky person who plays this week's challenge. I was very lucky to be on their Design Team and I have to tell you, the stamps are VERY DEEPLY ETCHED and the Rubber, Buttery Soft!

Now it is time for our challenge, Tammy is back to challenge us all this week. The holiday season is heating up! So our challenge today is to create something for an upcoming holiday and to incorporate heat embossing in your creation!

For my card, I used this awesome Winter Owl  I stamped the owl onto White Cardstock with Memento Black Ink. I coloured my image with my Touch Twin Markers  ( you can see the colour map below, if you'd like to use a similar colour combination~

I then sponged the whole background with Not Quite Navy ink and embossed the tiny snowflake (Joy2Christmas-The {Stamps} of Life) with Silver Embossing Powder. See the Soft Fluffy Flower Soft on the Owls hat? This is the BRAND NEW ULTRAFINE WHITE. It just arrived in my mailbox yesterday. I can't believe how unbelievably soft and fluffy it is!

If you decide to play along with us, all you have to do is create a card/project and upload it to your blog and/or to your SCS Gallery using the keyword C4C109. Don't forget to go  back here and link it on Mr Linky so that everyone else can see it too.

Follow the links on my sidebar to see what my favourite "crazies" have been up to all week and to see some more fun images from Outlines!

And Lastly, Here's my colour map!

A Fond Farewell to Outlines and Monday Challenge-to Bleach it or Not!

Hello everyone! Hope you had a fabulous weekend......it was chilly and rainy here for the most part, until the sun decided to peek out last night about 5 p.m. Sorry I'm late with my post, but my internet was wonky last night and for some reason, none of the browsers on any of the computers were working......things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........lol....... anyhoo, here I am with my final DT creation for Outlines Rubber Stamp Company.
I've thoroughly enjoyed designing for Outline and am going to miss my fellow DT members much! Thanks Outlines for the wonderful opportunity to showcase your gorgeous images. I have to tell you all that the stamps are of extremely high quality, with deeply etched soft rubber, mounted on cling!
Our challenge for today is called "to bleach it or not". I chose the "not" because even with ink alone, I'm a messy marvin and quite frankly, bleaching kind of scares me............hehe.............well not really, but I've tried it before without much success and well, rather than taking the risk and having to smell the yucky bleach, I decided to create a card with the spotlight technique, which works extremely well with the Bleach it or Not Stamps

For this creation specifically, I used the Tulip stamp. I stamped the image on Pale Plum Cardstock with Perfect Plum ink. For the spotlighted image, I restamped a portion of the image on white cardstock in the dark ink and punched out the section that I wanted to highlight with a 11/4" punch. I then layered it onto a 1 3/8" Olive circle, Do you like the plum, olive and eggplant colour combination? I do!

Be sure to continue to follow the Outlines DT's for the weekly challenges. You can win some of this delicious rubber by playing along. See all of the Details HERE. I'm going to keep the links up on the sidebar for the DT, so you can see what they are doing! I hope to play along sometimes too, because I {HEART} their stamps!

Thank you Jenny Gropp for making it possible for me to be a part of this great team and to Outlines for your kindness and generousity! It's been a wonderful six months and I'm truly blessed to have worked with you all

Outlines Monday Designer Challenge-Focus on Florals!

Good Morning! Hope you've all been well. Things have been pretty crazy in my life lately and I'm sorry I've been scarce! Anyway, our DT task for this week is to make a card focusing on Floral Images. I chose this pretty image, as I thought it would be just perfect for this challenge. The sentiment is from the inner square of this stacked image: To you -sm square. I used a marker on only the words and then punched around the sentiment with the small tag punch from Stampin' Up! I coloured the image with Copic Markers, adding a wee bit more dimension with a Light Blue Viva Decor Pearl Pen as well as a touch of Sunny Yellow to the middle of the pink flower.

I embossed the card front using a Cuttlebug embossing folder and added a tiny bit of linen thread to attach the tag to the Hat image as well as a flower from Prima to ground the tag sentiment. The wee pearls are dollar store finds.

Hope you have a wonderful week and follow the links on my sidebar to check out the gorgeous DT creations

Happy Stamping!

Outlines Monday Designer Challenge and Product Focus-Liquid Metal Paint and Smooch!

Today's Outlines Design Team Focus is to use Sargent Liquid Metals on your card. I wanted to showcase a few of the products that Outlines Carries, so I also used Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink and Viva Pearl Pen. I'm really not much for using stamping techniques so it really was a challenge for me!!! I'll take you through the steps I took to make this card. I am sort of pleased with the results, but when I have a little extra time to play, i'd like to try it again because I think I could get an even better looking background with Practice~!

With a Dry Brush, I painted some of the metallic paint onto plain black cardstock, making sure to leave some dark areas.

Step two

I then dribbled some of the smooch inks randomly onto the painted areas, working it into the paint with a dirty brush.

Just a little note: The Lime Ink took on a goldish appearence..........this is what the background should look like when done!

Step Three

Ink up your stamp with Versamark Ink, apply embossing powder and Heat with your heat gun

Step four

trim your image and complete your card. I would also say that the next time, I would take a fine brush and make sure all the embossing powder is brushed off the background so that it shows through a little better!

As you can see in the first photo, I added accents of Ocean Smooch to add a little more oomph to the image, I filled the Hearts in with Sugarberry and added some Viva Pearl Pen peals to the Butterfly wings!

As I said, I'm not usually all that into techniques, but this one was fun and now I'm challenged to perfect it!!!

Make sure you follow the links on the DT sidebar to get some other great ideas for using Metallic Paint in your stamping projects!

Happy Stamping!

What Inspires me? Outlines Rubber Stamp Company does!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I’m excited to share that I’ll be joining the Outlines Design Team for the next several months~ WOWEEEEEE, they have some Fine images!!!

Each Monday, we’ll be bringing you a challenge and I sure hope that you’ll play along with us!

Wait until you see the amazing lineup of designers that they have chosen as their first online Design Team. You’ll be pleasantly surprised and you can see their beautiful creations by following the links on my sidebar!

Our first challenge was to create a card that reflects what inspires us. I am definitely inspired by colouring, I adore using my copic markers and creating projects from my coloured images! It’s funny when people ask me if I start with an image or the papers, I would say that 95% of the time, I colour an image and then find papers and embellies that match the image.

I adore Snowmen, So I was over the moon to see some of the great Snowman images that are available at Outlines including this one Jolly Happy Soul which just happens to be 40% off at the online store. It is classified as a Christmas image, but I also think it’s just fine for a wintery themed card!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hope that you enjoy the projects that we at Outlines will be sharing with you!
