Bloggers Challenge Week 46-Willows for Mother

I can hardly believe that my Friday Challenge will is up before Friday. Quite often, I actually challenge myself on Friday, so I don't get around to posting until Saturday, but this week I am ahead of the game.

Is it because of my wonderful organization skills you ask?? Definitely NOT!!! I always work well under pressure.

This week I am ahead of the game for a couple of reasons. Wednesday's Sketch challenge was SO inspiring to me that I decided I needed to use it for my Mother's Day card. Did you know that this sketch was designed by Lynn Mecurio, who is a member of our Bloggers Challenge Group?


Secondly, My Mother is wonderful (although we bicker sometimes and she continues to remind me that, in her opinion I am going through the change of life) and is deserving of a pretty card. She does so much for myself and my son and although she isn't so silent about it, she can be very selfless. A lot of the times in my life when I SO did not want her to be right, she WAS and as I grew older, I learned to value her opinion and her excellent ability to read people.




So here's to you Mom. You raised me well and you continue to nurture and love us as we are, albeit frustrating at times. Even though I don't tell you how I feel often enough, I love you, your strengths, quirks and even the faults that make up your persona. I hope that I am fortunate to celebrate many many Mother's days with you.

Bloggers Challenge Week 40 Spring Flowers

This card was created for my Friday Bloggers Challenge Group. I used the Spring Solitude Stamp Set, which is a SU hostess set. I stamped the images in basic grey. To fill in the white areas, I sponged some soft sky between the images. I then used an aquapainter and picking up ink from the lid of the ink pads, filled in the soft sky and gry areas of the flowers. The smaller flowers were filled with stickles glitter. To complete the card, I mounted the sentiment in the newest Hodgepodge Hardware, which can be found in the Occasions mini catalogue, I used a variety of punches to add interest and tied it with grey taffeta ribbon. Bloggers Challenge Week 38-Birthday Cards

This was a perfect challenge for me because I just happened to need a Birthday card for a special friend! Inspired by Bev Gerard's Botanical Beauty the idea for this soft and feminine card was born!

The Main image can be found in the SMALL BREEDS stamp set from Hanna Stamps. The set is SO sweet and versatile that you can use it for cards without a dog theme.

I used imaginisce paper as the foundation for the card. The base is Blush Blossom. SU! Markers add just the right colours to the rose bush and I used the circle, photo corner and small oval punch to create embellishments. A hint of stickles (he he!) completes this cheery Birthday card.

Bloggers Challenge week 22-Inspiration comes in all forms

What inspires you???? Inspiration comes in all forms, People, places, things can all be wonderful sources of inspiration! This weeks Challenge was to create a card inspired by something else.

Problem for me this week was that I was not feeling very inspired. Most of the time I am soaking in all of the stimulus that I can, paying attention to the colours of nature, perusing the layouts of billboards that I see in my daily travels, making a mental note of new colour combinations while cruising the aisles of my favourite clothing stores...................this week, it just wasn't happening for me. So what did I do??? Took a virtual trip to Pottery Barn to find a source for my card...........and I found it very very quickly!




Isn't this the sweetest little serving plate. I just loved this Christmas Dinnerware's clean and simple design. This image definitely inspired me to pull out my never used Christmas Cheer Cricut Cartridge and make a card, which worked up very quickly. I used a tannish Bazzil Card stock for my Reindeer Base, Basic Black for the Hooves and Burgundy for the nose and collar. I attached mini bells with mini glue dots and added black line to the deer image with a sharpie. The card looked a little bare with just the reindeer and sentiment, so I made a little liquid applique snow fall in my craft room. Hope you enjoy my cute little guy as much as I enjoyed creating him.
