It's never to early to start your Christmas Projects!

Stampotique Designers' Challenge #10-Freedom

This week is a Stampotique Stamps only Challenge..........the challenge? We'd like to see your interpretation of what Freedom means to you. Freedom means a lot of things to me........but one of the things that comes to mind when I think of Freedom is Nature........I think about how free the creatures are in our world............. I'm not feeling very verbal this evening, so I'll just leave it at that and chatty a bit about my card.

I used Jasmin as my main image. I totally love these new images by Jo........... in fact I used all her images on my card including Big Bee, Silence Speaks , Small Butterfly and Medium Bee

I used a combination of Designer Paper from the Basic Grey Indian Summer line. The Brass Butterfly is actually a hair clip that I found at a liquidation store.

Would you like to play along? If you do, please be sure to link your card to the Stampotique Designer Challenge Blog I'd love to see what you create

C4C42 and Kraftin' Kimmie Saturday Challenge 34

Before we get onto today's C4C challenge we have a few announcements to make regarding changes in our Design Team.

First up Lori Boyd is super busy with all that she has been doing recently, and with summer now here she wants to spend lots of time with her "5 little reasons". Thanks Lori for all your inspiration over the past 12 months, it's been lots of fun having you on the team!

We are also excited to introduce to you a new member to our Design Team, I am sure many of you will know her already because her creations are amazing!!!!!!!! Please welcome Maria Bell of Stampin Inspirations blog!

Mercy is here again to bring you another fun and fabulous challenge!

This week she wants to see you create a card/project using PAPER FLOWERS! These can be paper flowers that you have purchased from the craft store, or flowers that you have punched and created yourself....if you are stuck, you can head to the C4C blog to get a link to Mercy's Tutorial.................and now here is where I got stuck............. I guess I have reading problems because I thought I was to use a home made flower on my card.........so as you can see, mine is not from paper, but crocheted..........and hand made by one of my very good friends Andreanne. Now I've asked her to teach me how so that I can make my own........but that is a very eager goal as I have tried to crochet several times to no avail! Anyway........... paper flower ladies..........paper flower! lol

If you would like to play along with us at C4C , all you have to do is create a card/project and upload it to your blog and/or to your SCS Gallery using the keyword C4C42. Don't forget to go back to C4C and link it on Mr Linky so that everyone else can see it too.

And now for the Kraftin' Kimmie Krafty Saturday Challenge! Krafty Jeanne has asked us to use a pretty summer colour combination on our cards.............Yellow, Blue and Tan. I was very lean with the Tan as you can see............lol...........guess it just wasn't my week, but go my mojo on with the Blue and Yellow!!! For my card I used the Beautiful Marina from the Summer Mermaid Kit that's now available and on special over at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps

Be sure to pull out your Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps for this challenge and you could win a Krafty Prize! Check out the Kraftin' Kimmie Blog for all the details.

Simply Sweet

Sometimes it's fun to create simple cards...........no muss, no fuss, just simple. Sometimes I think that less says more. Ohhh I love to pull out my Designer Papers, Ribbons, Buttons and other embellies and just play, but sometimes I want something that's completely understated, the focus being the image and words.

That's what I did with this card. Did you know that you can use Copic Markers quite successfully on coloured Cardstock? You need to stick to the lighter colours obviously, but you can achieve some neat results. I like to work on Light Blue, Pink and Lighter shades of Yellow.

For this card, I stamped "Thinking Of You" a wonderful image by Maryse Carrier in Momento Black ink. I then coloured with Copics. One tip for using your Copics on the coloured cardstock and gettting somewhat of a decent blend is to go over the area that you want to colour with your colourless blender first. The Second tip is to work tone on tone...........for example, rather than colouring the chair in completely, I used two darker shades of yellow to add some shading.

One thing that you can do when working with coloured cardstock is to have a scrap handy to test the colours on. That way, as you add each colour, you can test to see if it will work or not. For instance, if you're colouring on light blue cardstock, you don't want to use yellow as it will take on a green tinge. Of course colours will also appear darker on the cardstock. The little dog is actually coloured in baby skin pink and shaded with a wee bit of sand as the browner shades took on a muddy tone. Lastly, use the natural colour of your cardstock to create Highlights. As you can see in the lampshade, I've left some yellow space. You can soften up the edges of these areas by softly stroking your colourless blender around the area.

Paper Romance Challenge Three-Easel Cards

Please click here for the Paper Romance Challenge Blog candy!

Our challenge this week is to create an easel card, brought to you by the extremely talented Angela! These are so much fun to make, I hope you can play along with us. Follow this link for instructions to make your own easel card. If you play along, you could be the winner of a $5.00 Gift Certificate to Paper Romance! Link your card here and if you're loading into an online Gallery, use the keyword prc3.

For my card, I used Team Canada. I knew I had to have this Yummy Stamp when I saw it! I just LOVE all the little Critters! The Lady Bug Ribbon and The Eh! sentiment are from Michaels. I really like the sentiment because apparently according to my sweet friends south of the border, I say it a LOT!!!!

Hope that you'll play along with the challenges and go and have a peek at what the Design Team Created for you. I've had a little sneaky peeky myself and I have to say one word..........GORJUSS!!!!

Happy Stamping!

You are my Sunshine

Hope you all had a good weekend! I didn't get much card making done, but had a lot of fun basking in the sun like a pup! I am a little burned, but that's okay......it's nice to have some colour. My friends always tease me that I go from Transparent to White each summer!

I wanted to make a summer themed card and this little image Dog Splat with Butterfly was perfect for that! I coloured the images with Copics and used some Debbie Mumm Noah's Ark paper to tie in with the colours that I used in the image. I used Prism Pencils and Gamsol for the grass as I find I get a nicer blend..........hmmmm I think i've said that before! Two Martha Stewart Border punches adds a little interest to the layers.

The sentiment is also available at Stamp N Plus Scrap N

Happy Stamping!

For Dad-Totally StampaliciousChallenge and Flower Soft

Good Morning!

Hope that you all enjoyed your weekend! Fathers Day is soon approaching and I thought I'd share a card with that theme. Also, Totally Stampalicious is Challenging us to Make a Father's Day Card. Be sure to head over to the TS Blog for all the details and to Link up your Card! They're giving away a Hawt Dawg set to one lucky winner! Be sure to check it out!
Sweet Desiree is available at Totally Stampalicious. The sentiment is from The Stamps Of Life All For Dads

Sometimes just a wee touch of Flower Soft will make a big difference on a card. I really like to use the Flower Soft to create grass and sand and such on Designer Paper. It's often difficult to use your colouring mediums on this paper, especially when the colours are a little darker. The Flower Soft creates a lovely base for you, which in turn grounds your image. Visually it keeps your image from appearing to be floating in mid air and is more visually pleasing. I used Ultrafine Sage on this particular Project. In addition, I used a little dab of Ultra Fine Strawberry on her Barrettes and earrings. I really love that I can add dimension without too much bulk

Guess what? You can see the second epsiode of Flower Soft TV today. Noreen is featuring the Starter Box today! Be sure to check it out HERE

Card Recipe:

Stamp: Desiree: Totally Stampalicious, Dad sentiment- The Stamps of Life
DP: Sugar Rush-Basic Grey
Copic Markers
Ultrafine Sage and Strawberry Flower Soft

Crazy 4 Kraftin' Kimmie's Challenges 'cause they're Beachy Keen!

Today i'm combing the Crazy4Challenges and Kraftin' Kimmie Challenges! Our Krafty Kaptain Kimmie challenged us to create Beach or Water Themed Cards. My fellow Crazy, Mercy challenged us to use the following colour combination:

And of course I'm bringing you another peek from the Kraftin' Kimmie Summer Kit. Arianna is happily swimming with her two little friends!

To read more about the Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge, go HERE

For the Crazy's Challenge go HERE

I coloured Arianna in Copics, but I did the water accents in Prisma Pencils. I like the soft look and blending that you get with the pencils, that I just can't seem to achieve with Copics when I do larger areas of water and sky. I did sponge a little bit of ink to the edges of the oval as well.

The Kiyoshi paper from Basic Grey matched Perfectly!!!

Hey! Don't forget that Kimmie's HUGE blog hop is tomorrow.........Make sure that you leave lots of love for the team as there will be some sweet candy for a lucky winner

Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

Miles Builds a Castle

I have a feeling that Miles is going to be one adventuresome furry fella! Today he's enjoying more beach time! One of Kraftin' Kimmie's new June release images, he is going to be a showstopper I think and he can be yours on Sunday!

I bought this sweet BO BUNNY paper last year and am finally just getting around to using it! It's very neat because it's double sided and has various patterns and blocks on one side and four 6x6 blocks on the other, making it perfect for cards!!! I cut the little beach sign out of one of the blocks.

Miles is coloured in copics, with black, brown and white pen markings to add dimension. Not much else to say about the construction of the card. Be sure to check out the Krafty Girl's Blogs today........the june samples have been just amazing!

Happy Stamping~!

What do you think of Cordelia????? I think she is absolutely stunning! So did my mom! The stickles wasn't even dry on this card before she scooped it to give a friend for her Birthday!

Lots of Glitz and Stickles on this card! I used Pink stickles and Pink Chunky Glitter. The Sand dollar is from Cape Cod.............Oh yes, I wanted to mention that the Sand on my Miles card from yesterday is actually a newer product from Flower Soft-Ultra Fine Sand.........it looks and almost feels like sand! Stampotique Designer's Challenge

We hope you'll get fired up about this sizzling challenge and join in for a chance to win a smokin' hot $15 Stampotique gift certificate!! You may use any stamps that spark your inspiration. You are welcome to use any stamps you please, but make sure that you link your image up to the Stampotique Designers Challenge Blog

Summer means a lot of things to me. I love the Sun, the smell of fresh cut grass, spending time at the lake, the smell of the steaming popcorn machine coming from the concession stand at the Drive-in, Cold Beer and a Splash in the lake, which I've experienced already! We're having unseasonable warm weather here and I've been swimming since the end of May! For me, the beginning of summer is symbolized by the blooming of beautiful flowers and the appearance of Butterflies fluttering by. Here are a few pictures of my garden. Since my Mother is the gardener, I'm not quite sure what the flowers are, but they sure are pretty!

This little guy has special meaning for me. He is one of several ceramic gnomes that I painted for my Grandmother. He snoozed in her garden while she lovingly tended her blooms up until her passing a few years ago. My mother has placed them in her garden now and it's nice because I think of Grandma, each time I see them.

For my card, I used two images, Sunfleur and Small Butterfly. The Butterfly is stamped in medium green ink. Sunfleur is stamped in momento black ink and coloured with Copics. I added a tad of white gel pen for highlights and sponged around the image with Blue Grey and Celery Ink.

I hope that you all have a wonderful summer! I'm surely looking forward to mine.
