Masculine Birthday

This must be the week of challenges and challenging cards! Sometimes making masculine cards can be a challenge in itself!!! I created this card for my Brother in law for his Birthday. When I was at CHA we were situated directly across from the Coredinations Booth. What delicious paper they have. I love the way that you can distress the paper and the almost felt-like texture it has after sanding. I used a paisley cuttlebug folder to emboss before sanding.

The main image in this card is from the retired Bronc Buster Set. I stamped the image onto Creamy Caramel Paper with Chocolate Chip Craft ink. I distressed and inked the edges of the main panel to give it a distressed look. To get a deeper choppy look, I went direct to paper with the ink pad. The more blended look around the sentiment was created by applying the craft ink with a sponge. A little Rope, adds to the "Western" look of the card and a metal accent reinforces the masculine feel.

Hope you get really creative today!

  5. Oh My Word Vicki this card is perfect. I would never ever have thought to distress and age that curly label punch like that and I love that punch. I am a sucker for the Top Note, Curly Label Punch, and the Label #1 Nesties love that shape. I adore your aging here and on the turquoise?? background.

    I love this card Vicki!!!

  11. Hey Vicki!! I think you did an awesome job with the masculine card. Masculine cards are not my favorite cards to make because I can't add too many bells and whistles to the card! LOL!
