Thankful for my Boy and his Dog

Good Morning and Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian Friends!
I hope that you're out enjoying this glorious day! I'm headed out shortly for a walk! I don't want to miss the opportunity of enjoying this great weather while it still lasts.

For most of you that know me, you know I look to the positive and realize the many ways that I have been blessed each and every day. I'm thankful for my family, my work, my creativity and the friends and acquaintances that i've had the opportunity to make through paper crafting.

There is no love greater than that of the relationship between man and his best friend. My Boy and his dog. Pets offer unconditional love to their family, as do Mothers to their children. I love my Son and my little Fur Baby Sydney! They both bring joy to my life, along with frustration, worry, laughter and sometimes tears, but I wouldn't trade either of the two for the world!

I created this layout with papers from an older line of Doodlebug Design.  You can find them in the clearance bin at Scrappin' Great Deals The line is called Sweetheart and the papers  are 4050 Heartthrob and 4043 Secret admirer.  i'm sure if you called the store, they could add them to you order if you wished to recreate the layout.  If you lift the "you're so tweet" layer, you will find a spot for embellishing! I added some Sugarplum Enamel Glossy Sticker dots to give the layout just a little more texture! You can find those in the SGD online store HERE

Lastly, I'm Thankful for the opportunity to share my creations with you and the fact that you continue to visit my blog!  Have a wonderful day!

Caribbean Safari

I had a wonderful weekend with my best girls at Victopia this past weekend. It was one of our quieter events, with a small showing, but it was intimate and lovely! I SO appreciate my friends and how good they are to me!

I had a fabulous time creating this layout using  this great Sketch that can be found at Stuck?! Sketches. I LOVED feeding these gorgeous Monkeys in the Rainforest in Grenada last winner. What smart and beautiful creatures.

The Bo Bunny Safari Collection was perfect for these pictures

I can't wait to use more and share with you!

Here's a share from a class that I will be teaching at Scrappin' Great Deals on the weekend of February 23rd. The class is learning to create a Scandanavian style of Distressed colouring with Copic Markers

I LOVE using Magnolia Stamps for this technique and have used Tilda with her Daisy

We will be making these sweet little matching flowers too!

Sweet Memories!

I want to share   a little Christmas Gift that I've made for my son Jonathon.  For many years, we'd make a Gingerbread House each Christmas. Where does the time go? My sweet little boy has grown into an almost 6'5" young man. I'm sure that he'd humour me and build a Gingerbread House if I asked, but I'm sure it wouldn't be quite the same!

I started the project with a couple of things...........this nifty kraftboard box by Graphic 45 and The My Minds Eye Lost and Found Christmas Collection pack. I'm not sure if Scrappin' Great Deals still has the kit in stock, but you can find all the fabulous papers here .

The Box has a magnetic closure and a very cool accordion album inside, that you can decorate to your taste.

I started by covering the outside and the inside covers of the box with some of the matching papers

.

I sponged Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Brushed Corduroy to all the edges, as it softens it down. Also to cut down on the bulk a bit, I used the Lost and Found Christmas Stamps (which happen to be on sale now!) to Stamp the outside edges and interior of the box.

I embellished the box and layout with some of the die cuts from the Tag sheet in the kit as well as with the My Minds Eye decorative brads.

Here's a few shots of the accordion album

The Cover

These pictures are dated.........my sweet 9 year old is now 15......we had a lot of fun making gingerbread houses at Christmas

I had to don that Santa Hat too!........................I'm not sure if more candy made it onto the house, or into our bellies!

Ohhhh the Concentration here!

A little pocket for tucking in the Journaling and an extra picture or two!

Hmmm I haven't seen Jon make this particularly interesting face for at least a year or two!

Did I mention that I LOVE papercrafting kits? I managed to get this project done, along with 3 or 4 cards, a glass ornament and I still have a full sheet of paper that I intend to do another layout with!

Hope you enjoyed my project!
