Love or Luck? Perhaps a bit of both!!!

Happy Sunday!!!

Did you have a good weekend?

Mine was pretty mellow, but I did get happy mail this week in the form of a box from Emerald Creek!

I ordered some of Seth Apter's Baked Texture to try!!!

I chose
Patina Oxide
Chunky Rust
Deep Sea

On the first project, a little wall canvas, I used the Chunky Rust and Deep Sea

It was cool when I opened the Chunky Rust because it looks like a cross between embossing and flocking powder. It gives really fun and funky results.

I paired it with Fossilized Amber, Pistachio and Fired Brick Distress Oxide Inks

The canvas was painted in Acrylics and then rubbed with some Spanish Copper Rub and Shine

I made the heart embellie by cutting a heart in a Primitive shape, pressing it into the versamark pad and embossing. I did this twice to get it a little thicker. I added a touch of wire to add it little more interest.

In order to get the splashes of Deep Sea Embossing powder on the Canvas and Tag, I simply sprinkled it on and then heated from underneath. It melted like a dream!!

I finished off the project by stamping the Today sentiment from the Journal Jargon 3 set  available at Impression Obsession Stamps

Did you know they carry a whole line of Seth Apter Stamps?

I couldn't just stop with one project and I have to tell you I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Patina Oxide Baked Texture!!! On this piece, I combined it with a touch of Chunky Rust.
Same Inks, just a little different application!

This colour combination goes perfectly in my Beach themed room~

For this one, I added a good amount of the Baked texture to the tag and again, heated from underneath. Then I inked up the not negotiable stamp from Seth's Post Office set in Versamark and pressed it into the hot embossing powder.  I also pressed in the Stratosphere stamp, which is one I used over and over again! Again, the sentiment is from the  Journal Jargon 3 set

I enjoyed using the Baked Texture so much I had to order the other colours yesterday!!!!
Hope they come soon, so I can show you some more projects!!!

I'm entering both projects into the Emerald Creek Dares Challenge

The theme is Lucky or Love

I'm Lucky 'cause my Emerald Creek goodies arrived this week and LOVE LOVE LOVE them!

Impression Obsession Thursday Designer Challenge-Happy Birthday!

Good Morning!

Hope you're all having a lovely day thus far!

Today's a Birthday Challenge!!!

I love making birthday cards and it's always great to have a few on hand for in a pinch!!!
Although I usually like to make custom cards for the recipient, sometimes my menobrain (menopause induced forgetfulness!) stands in the way so if I have a few here and there, I can pop one in the mail quickly!!!!

For this card, I used a background I created with Jane Davenport Inkredible Inks! LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!!!

Today, I'm featuring Dina Kowal's Introverting Set.
I coloured the Sweet Kitty with Copic Markers on a wee die cut.
Wire and sparkly sequins to finish off!

Looking forward to seeing your Birthday Creations

Impression Obsession Designer Feature-Colourful Intentions

Good Morning!!

I'm excited to share a couple of projects with you as this week's featured designer.

My creative interests have been taking a bit of a shift lately and I've been exploring mixed media and drawing a little more along with the lessons and Inspiration of Life Book 2018

This lesson was led by the very talented Andrea Gomoll and was a study in Sketching, Watercolour and texture.

For this piece, I sketched my Rainbow Girl inspired by Andrea's drawing.
I used Jane Davenport Mermaid Pens to paint her hair. I have to admit, I had to redo her face in acrylic and Prism Pencils case I made a right mess of it the first time!!!

Oodles of Doodles and Linework completed her and then I added some additional texture with Paint Splatters and Texture Paste with a Tim Holtz Stencil.

At first, I reall didn't like the colours in her hair, but they grew on my intentionally

Impression Obsession has some of the best quote stamps. They're great for using on greeting cards and mixed media

I used the following two stamps on this piece:

and

In this piece I used the same technique as described above, but instead of paint splatters, I used Nuvo drops which created a great texture and some different stamps including

an image from the Seth Apter Postcard stamp set. The Circular stamps is also by Seth Apter called Stratosphere and the dots are from the Chalk Dot Border

The main sentiment is called Art Supplies

These were much fun to create!!!!

I hope you all have a most amazing day!

Out with the old, in with the new {Life Book 2018)

Letting go....what does that mean really?  Is it something one can do with little thought and effort, or does it take years to release negative emotions stirred up from past experiences?
Personally, I think it's a little of both, depending on one's disposition and perception-how much it matters to them, how hurt one feels and how ready they are to release it.

These things we hold onto, the secrets we keep can linger and fester forever if we let them, manifesting themselves in unhealthy attitudes, behaviours and relationships.  They are persistent; just when we think we've rid ourselves of them, like an unwelcome houseguest, they return. All the baggage they carry accompany them and we find ourselves back to where we were at in the first place. A similar incident, a common emotions and our thoughts are powerful triggers with regard to stirring up the past.

The beauty in all of this is like those repressed memories and emotions, we are persistent. We are resilient and we can realize success with moving forward. Sometimes we have to remain mindful it takes time and it probably takes times. What do I mean by that?  Letting go is not as easy as taking the trash out every Thursday; wouldn't it be nice if it was? To me it just means to continue forward in one's healing journey, facing those negative emotions as they surface, combatting self defeating thoughts and having the patience to recognize it does get easier in time. The "guests" may return, but we are able to send them packing more swiftly, their belongings contained in a satchel, rather than a carriage full of trunks. It is worth it to let go, to let go and to let go again.

Which brings me to my art and my Garden Fairy.  My art allows me that creative release, to let go the thoughts, feelings and emotions that weigh on my shoulders at the end of day. I am currently participating in Life Book 2018 which is not only allowing me to make beautiful art, but to work on me. This amazing lesson by Tamara Laporte allowed me to paint away the negative things i've been carrying from the last couple of years and carry forward the attributes I want to bring forward and develo further this year. I feel truly blessed to have happened on this course because it compliments all the steps I am taking to heal. I hope you enjoyed  my piece today and inspires you to let go...even if it's just one little thing; baby steps eventually lead to full strides.

The piece was completed with patterned and collage papers, gesso, acrylic paint, watercolor crayons, gel pen and Zig Brush Markers.

I used the Splatter 1 stamp wiith Gesso to add some texture to the background.

Impression Obsession Thursday Designer Challenge-Friendship Flowers

Good Morning!

Hope you're having a wonderful week! It's hard to believe we are already into the 2nd month of the year....before we know it, we'll be getting ready for Christmas again. Perhaps I'm a LITTLE premature in that assumption {LOL}.

I am ready to see Flowers blooming in my garden. Not likely to happen anytime soon in this chilly climate soooo I decided build my own Garden Card with the Build a Garden set

It's absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!

Lots of fun images in the extra large clear set!

I created a background with distress oxide inks and bleach.

After letting it dry, I stamped the images with IO Most Intense Black Ink

Lastly, I added a little sentiment from the Journal Jargon 3 set

Easy Peasy and a nice little note I can send off to a friend. Sorry for the dull photo. I think i'll redo it today in the daylight!

Hope you have a wonderful day
