My Ocean themed Bedroom

Hey! Happy Canada Day~ I have some plans for later, if the weather holds out.
I thought I' take some time to show you pics of my Bedroom Reno~

I've been going through a lot of changes in the past year-it's been a year of transformation. Heartache, Grief, but most of all the last few months I've focused on Hope and Determination. I will and I am getting my health back. I'm getting stronger each day, thanks to my decision to manage my own health with help from an Osteopath and a Naturopath. It's amazing in just two months I've gone from barely even able to walk to achieving 8,000-13,000 steps on my fitbit, depending on the day!

I am LOVING my Beach Themed Room. I'm Proud of the fact that I did it all on my own (floors excepted!) with Jon helping me with the demolition and painting.

This is the wall opposite the Bed. I love the Sea Grass, Pussy Willows and Lantern in the corner (I even have a little Battery Candle in it, when I feel like imitating a summer night!

The little sparkly light that you see on the dresser (see the earlier posts for the chalk painted dresser) is very special to me. I bought it when I was expecting Timothy.  Sadly, he never got to enjoy it, but the twinkling stars remind me that he is out there somewhere, looking down at his mama.

The idea for the netting under the T.V. came from a need to hide the cables.......It looked a little barren, so I added the starfish. The boast to the right is a little darker would, but I didn't want to paint over it. My Dad, who turns 80 tomorrow made that in trade school; one of his first projects as a carpenter. The Large Brandy Snifter contains Sand and Shells, a reminder of the Ocean; the peaceful feelings that I experience when I'm on, in or around the water.

This is one of the projects that I'm extremely proud of!
Bless you Pinterest!
I found this idea for the ladder shelf made with an old wooden ladder and some repurposed lumber. The biggest challenge was finding the ladder!
My Dad helped me to cut the wood to size and Jon helped to mount the ladder to the wall.
I used a wash of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to make it look a little more antiqued.
I LOVE the way it turned out. The little Horse pull toy was one of Jons first toys.

A little close up of the top shelf!
I painted the Star in Annie Sloan Chalk paint to match the decor of my room.

Here's a view of the other part of my room, My dressing table and closet area.
It's hard to believe that countertop was forest green formica. I was able to put a few coats of stone textured spray paint, followed by a few coats of varathane to recreate the counter top!

I alway hated the bank of cabinets and they just had a weird tone, that never matched any colour in my room. Did I mention how much I {Heart} Chalk Paint. The Octagonal mirror above the chair was one that I painted several years ago for Jon's room. Probably one of the very few pieces of Tole Painting I have left!

I used to have bifold doors on my closet. They only caused me frustration as the would come off the track and interfere with my ability to dig deep into the closet! Solution- A Shower Curtain~ Found this one at Home Outfitters....the colours to me imitated those you might see in a waterfall, although the picture doesn't really reflect that!

My Dad and his friend Dennis did a Bang up Job of installing my Coastal Grey Laminate! I love it. Sydney ( The Dog) not so much; she can't get the traction to jump up on the bed. I've had to add a little carpet runway to improve her takeoff!

Another little close up of the counter! I repainted a tole painted mirror, but left a little of the old pattern peeking out, just for nostalgia sake!

Love the little box I found at Michaels! I got it for a steal with a coupon and a sale! It hold clips and cream and combs, oh my!

Lastly I wanted to share my sewing stool redo! YES, you can even use chalk paint on Vinyl~
I painted the legs in Graphite and this cushion in Duck Egg Blue.  This Prima Stencil was perfect for the job!

So there it is...my Ocean Haven. I love to lay in bed and relax.......it's pretty, calm and quite soothing.

I intended to show you the before, but i've decided not to. I've been working so hard to erase the past, enjoy the present and forge forward into the future, that displaying the old pictures only serves to dredge up unwanted memories. It is not only the furniture and rooms that are getting a "redo" in this household. I hope you enjoyed my "share" and I apologize to those of you who've been asking. It did take me a bit to bring this post into fruition.

For those of you partaking in Canada Day Celebrations, stay safe.
