The Ocean Stirs the Heart-April Prima BAP challenge

The Ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination & brings eternal joy to the soul
                                                              ~Wyland

I completed this layout for the Prima BAP Challenge

This is the April Sketch.

I'm totally in LOVE with the Prima Seashore collection

I started with a base sheet of Prima Textured cardstock from the Basic Collection

I stamped with the Shell Cover a Card from Impression Obsession in Soft Sky Ink as per the direction on the sketch. I then inked up some large Bubble Wrap with the soft sky ink and stamped along the bottom of the page to create my first layer of circles.

I dry brushed some white paint all over the cardstock. I then sewed on some natural tulle and heated it a bit with the gun to give it a distressed look.

Using Texture paste and stencils, I stencilled the tattered angels Sand dollar and circles on the lower portion of the layout. After drying it thoroughly, I sprayed here and there with Antique Gold Color Bloom Spray. Lastly, I stamped with the Splatter 2 stamp from IOstamps

Finally I embellished with stickers from The Seashore 12x12 Collection Kit, Say it in Crystals and the
most delicious Prima flowers EVER!!!!

The Photographs were taken on the Beach in Grenada this past March

Ocean in a Box-Impression Obsession Thursday Challenge

Today's Challenge is called out of the Box!

I decided that I needed to create an ocean scene coming out of the Box!

I found this very cool box card template for my Silhouette and Modified it a touch!

I started by cutting out the box and snipping off the die cuts for the insert

I then created layers with the Gorgeous DP from the Prima Seashore Collection
I added some extra dimension to the designer paper by stamping on it randomly with the Cover a Card  Scratches Stamp.

I used some Pretty Prima Trim to act as a base for underneath the Dream sentiment, which was stamped on a punched and sponged circle and layered onto an IO Die

I then cut several dies from the IO Shells Die set out of the Prima Paper

I glittered the edges of some and then used the Prima Chalk Edger to add some gold touches to the opposite edges of the shells.

I mounted the various shells on foam dots to layer and stacked them.

To finish the card off, I sprayed the Prima Resin Seahorse with Gold Foil Bloom Spray and then sponged with a Peach Chalk Edger. Doesn't it give him a natural look? I learned that technique when I had the opportunity to participate in Prima Art Venture Canada last weekend! I'll be blogging more about that later! Thanks Cari Fennel for the amazing tip to bring the resin's to life!

I also added some Viva Decor Gold Pearls to the Starfish and finally, some Seahorse say it in crystals for that last little bit of Bling that I always long for!

This is definitely an "out of the box"  project for me and I'm gonna boast just a bit here by saying I LOVEEEEE it!!!!! hehe!!!

I sure hope that you will submit your out of the box project HERE on the IO Blog

Be sure to head on over to see who's playing the challenge today and to get all the deets on how you can win some IO Goodness!

Basking in the Sun

Just playing around! I created this fun layout with the pictures of this adorable little creature (yes, adorable from a distance, that is!) that I came across while on a morning photo shoot on our resort in Grenada. I was SO hoping to shoot images of the local wildlife, and this not so little guy didn't let me down!! What a Beautiful Colour he was, the sunlight catching each detail on his body.

I don't think I'd ever want an iguana as a pet, but I did enjoy admiring him from afar.

The Layout was created with papers from the Funkysaurus Collection. You can find it HERE at the Paper Loft

Time Flies!

I enjoyed creating this card for a former coworker, who is now going to embark on a new phase in her life: Retirement!!! I had the opportunity to work with her on a couple of occasions over the years and have to say that I LOVE her zest for life and matter of fact, assertive manner. She reminds me of my Mom. The sentiment in the card says it all:

The Bad new is.... Time Flies
The good news; You're the Pilot

I hope that you enjoy many many years of Retirement Irene! It's well deserved

I coloured my card with Touch Twin Markers
Here's the Colour Map:

The Stamp is from Stamping Bella- Senior-ita Delores
I also used a couple of Dies to complete my card

and

Just Remember...Time Flies, so make sure that you make the best of each and every day!

You Are My Sunshine-IO Stamps Thursday Challenge

Good Morning!
Hope you've been enjoying some better weather.
I would like to be, but I've had this darned flu for over a week now and it just doesn't seem to want to let up. I can't wait to get out in the sun and enjoy the lovely spring breeze

This week the Challenge at Impression Obsession Stamps is called You are My Sunshine

I pondered on this a bit and then decided that I'd create a "Sunny Layout" with pictures from my recent Vacation to Grenada. My Mother and I had a fabulous time! We met some wonderful people and I'm thinking of spending a longer period of time there next Winter.

For my Layout, I used the from The Paper Loft

For the Caramel Panel, I distressed the Paper a bit and used the  Cracked Paint Background Stamp to add a little more dimension. I like to ink these up "off the block" and just stamp a touch here and there. It gives more of a random look for distressing.

I cut a banner and stamped the You Make Me Happy Stamp on some of the matching Designer Paper, which I also used to cut the Sun from the Sun and Moon Die

My Mom is AMAZING.....she is my rock and is always there for me, particularly when Skies are Gray. I suppose that is what you call Unconditional Love. The love that compels us to take a few minutes to set our own needs aside to tend to the ones that we love. The kind of Love that is pure and forgiving and supportive, no matter what. I am so blessed to have my Mother and Friends that have that kind of Love for me. I know that at times I've taken it for granted. Now, more than ever I have learned to realize that no matter how much one can tell you that they love you, actions speak far louder than words.

Soooo if you want to play along with the challenge, be sure to upload your Sunny Creations HERE on the IO Blog.
