More Unity

I was really excited to receive my first Kit of the Month from Unity Stamps a wee while ago!!! I can't believe the wonderful assortment of stamps that you get for such a reasonable price. It didn't take me long to ink them up and get creating.

I was totally impressed with the quality of the deeply etched rubber stamps that are mounted on foam and cling!!! I have to say that they are extremely well made!!! So Kudos to Angela and her team over at Unity!!!

If you've been on SCS, you may have seen this card. I made it for last weeks Hip Hop Challenges.
I used Basic Grey DP and copics and some more of that Pretty Pomegranite Ribbon from SU~ I'll truly be sad when I run out of that. I purchased two rolls of Pomegranite and Chocolate Chip. It's so soft and Satiny.............

Anyway, enough of the bla bla bla for today, I am under the gun to get some career deadlines met, so I guess stamping will have to take a backseat for a few hours!!!!

Oh and BTW, these stamps are from the March Kit of the Month!

Happy Stamping

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Week week 10

Once again, Maria has given us a fabulous sketch to work with this week. You'll see it just below and noticed that I played with it a wee bit. I found the Ribbon to be a bit top heavy, so I flipped it to have the ribbon on the bottom and I moved the brads to the other side.

Like Lovely as a tree, this image to me, is rather timeless. It is an image that is from the Stamp Barn in Ottawa Ontario. I coloured it in with my Copic Markers. I would list all the colours for you, but I find I just use so many on each image, sometimes up to three colours in the same value for shading, so I must say I am rather lazy about listing them. Anyway, I used my white gel pen to create a little snow................EWWWW did I say SNOW???? Please, no more snow..... I am keeping my fingers crossed that we don't get anymore anytime soon.......at least not until next winter! I cuttlebugged the soft sky background layer with a snowflake template and used Night of Navy and Purely Pomegranite as complimentary colours!

I initially had no sentiment on the card as I wanted the focal point to be the image, but it seemed a little bare, so I added a SU Rub on directly onto the Pomegranite Ribbon. I wasn't sure how it would adhere, but I must say that I find that SU Rubons are just like butter and probably one of the best rubons that I have ever used.

Here's the sketch if you want to play along! Also, don't forget to follow the Link to Christmas Stamping to see all of the other faboo designs!!!

Before I go, I have a little Public Service Announcement to share

This fundraiser has been extended until this Friday April 3rd. If you can lend a hand, it would surely be appreciated. Click HERE for more information!

Also, the Amazingly Talented Mariska is hosting a challenge for Pink Cat Studio. I hope to have my card up in the next day or two! It's a prize challenge, so please click HERE for details!!!

Isn't that the Cat's Pajamas!

It's been awhile since I have been able to play the The Cat's Pajamas Tuesday Challenges. I Received my new stamps a couple of weeks ago and was raring to go this week. I just love Alma's sweet designs!

The Sketch challenge this week was hosted by Leigh O'Brien, who happens to be one of my favourite stampers. I remember admiring her artwork in the early days of Splitcoaststampers and thinking that I wanted to be like her when I grew up! lol! I had the opportunity to meet her at CHA in Chicago last summer and she is as sweet in person as she is in the cyber world! Leigh got me hooked on The Cat's Pajamas with her great creations!!!

Click HERE if you want to play! The Challenge is open until Saturday night and you will have the opportunity to win Swanky Stamper of the Month!

I used the Spring Fling set to create this little scene! My Base Cardstock was Neenah White and the Complimentary Colours Pirouette Pink and Certainly Celery by SU! The DP was also the SAB giveaway for SU. I coloured the image with Copics, added lots of Jellyroll Glitter to the Eggs, Spica Pen to the Trees and of course a little flocking to the Bunny Ears! Some Pearl Coloured Buttons made fab wheels! Martha Stewart Border and Branch Punches completed the look I was going for. I really like this set because in addition to main images, it also includes grass, tiny eggs, flowers, mushrooms......yes, even cute mushrooms! and a tiny carrot!!!

To finish the grass, I added small strokes of spica pen.

Oh, I am excited about tomorrow!!!!

The Details can be found HERE

I think you might just have time to sign up still!!! How cool is that! See you tomorrow!

Happy Stamping!

Sweet!!!! Sweet Pea Release Day!

Today's the day that Sweet, Sweet Pea is available at PINK CAT STUDIO The sets are very versatile and you interchange images between the two sets to make so many cute cards!!!

I think this may be my favourite creation of all the peeks that I made. When I first saw the stamps, I thought the combination of the Box and the Strawberry Hat would make a cute card!

Did you know you can make very cute leaves with your oval punches? Here's the Trick.

1. Punch The Oval (when I need larger leaves I use the larger SU Oval punch
2. Fold the leaf length wise
3. Keeping it folded, make horizontal diagonal fold to create the "veins" in the leaves
4. Unfold and crumple it up into a little ball
5. Straighten it out again and then go direct to paper with your inkpad to add depth of colour.
You can sponge on additional colour if you like.
6. Pinch the leaf into shape and add it to your project.

The DP that I used for this project is a retired DP from SU! called Cerise.

Here are the plates for the new stamp sets. I'll have some more samples for you over the next couple of weeks. I still can't pick my favourite, but I know I am partial to the Cow Baby!!!!

Have a great day and Happy Stamping of course! I'll be back tomorrow with a TCP Challenge Card!

More PinkCat!!

More Sneak Peeks from Pink Cat!!!! These two cards are made using the Sweet Pea set! Aren't they a giggle??? A baby Fairy to match the enchanted Lily girls and a wee Cowboy!

The papers on the cowboy card are from an album that had been in a grab bag somewhere. I figured I was never going to use it, so I took it apart and turned it into a card!

That made it eady to match all the colours!!! lol.......... The image is coloured with Copics and I sponged Creamy Caramel Ink around the whole image to distress it! I thought the punched stars would add to the theme of the card.

I thought the Baby Fairy image would be perfect for a little gifty can! This was so quick and easy to make. I Paper pieced the petals of the flower as well as the stem, using paper from....hmmm well, I can't remember actually, but I am thinking it was a 6x6 SU! Patterned paper pad!

Fairies should be pretty and glittery, so I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the wings, star and centre of the flower! I like to use Stampin' Up! Stampin' Pastels to do cheeks on images, I find that I can get a softer look with the chalk!

The little tag was created by using SU Tag Punches and matching DP. I Stamped the sentiment directly onto the DP and punched, then punched an extra sentiment, cutting the star out and mounting it on a dimensional!

Don't forget to check out the tremendously talented DT samples....... I am amazed with each and every project they create!

Come back tomorrow for one last sneak peek and the reveal of the stamps sets!

Happy Stamping

Pink Cat Studio Sneak Peek Day 1 and a Contest!!!!

It's that time again!!!!! Introducing Dress up Sweet Pea!!!! The sky is the limit with this sweet set! Be sure to visit the DT's blogs today to see all the awesome projects that they have created for your viewing pleasure!!! Our Guest Designer this month is Sparkle Smith. I like her style and I am sure that you will as well!

My first Card was made using the SAB DP from Stampin' Up, Pink Pirouette, Bashful Blue and White Paper. My friend Darlene lent me her Storybook Cartridge for the Cricut and I cut the sweet Lattice Frame from the Clover Frame Template. I sponged and pierced it to add a little interest. I used Flocking Powder from Doodlebug Designs for her Bunny Ears and Sparkle Fluff from Our Craft Lounge for the base of the ears. The Pretty Ribbon is from M's. I can't walk out of that store without at least one spool!!!! The sentiment is actually from tomorrow's Sneak Peek set, but I'll have more on that Tomorrow!

This little cutie is arriving Special Delivery just for you! Isn't that little onesie and bear hat just to die for? This card just makes me want to smile........from Soothers to Rattles and all sorts of other cute outfits and accessories, this set is just tons of fun!

My penchant for Designer Paper is equivalent to that of my ribbon desire!!! I picked up the Daydream Slab Pack from K& Company! There are just so many cute designs in this pad and a lot that work well for Boy Projects! The Special Delivery Sentiment is a piece that I cut out from the Sweet Pea Dress up set, the Baby Boy from tomorrow's Sneak Peek!

I coloured with Copics, Highlighted with White Gel pen and added a Button and some Linen Thread. The large B is from another indulgence, the long retired SU alphabet set! I started with a couple and couldn't stop until I got the whole Alphabet!!! Crazy, but I have got a lot of use out of those letters!!!

Contest you ask??? Well, Melissa is at it again...........here's the deets for the contest!

Who will be the next Cutie Patootie??

Leave a comment on Melissa's BLOG and tell her who you think the next cutie patootie should be. It could be an animal or a human or something from out of this world? Anything goes so be as creative as you like :)

This contest will end this Wednesday at midnight EST and the winner will be announced during the new release this Thursday. The winner will be selected randomly from everyone who enters and she will receive her choice of any PCS stamp set. She can't wait to her your suggestions!

That's all folks for today! Be sure to stop by tomorrow as the Saga continues.......... as the world turns.....oh no wait!!!! It's not a Soap Opera! It's sneak Peek Week ;-p) Definitely MORE exciting!!!!!!

Happy Stamping

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Week 9 and Challenge Winners

One more week closer to Christmas!!! Hmmmm How many Shopping days it that??? I'm not exactly sure, but I haven't even been thinking remotely of Christmas Shopping. My preference is to shop a little early because I can't stand the crowds at the Mall at that time of year, but I never usually get it done as early as I like. But this year, I'll have more time since I have a handle on my Christmas Cards!!!!

Saturday I had my friends Laura and Darlene over to play!!! We didn't end up getting much done as we spent more time catching up and giggling...........plus we had a little party to attend after dinner. So needless to say, although I intended to make this card that day, it in fact wasn't made under the influence of red wine, but rather hastily at 10:30 p.m. last night when it dawned on me that I needed a card for the challenge this morning!!!!

When I need a quick card, I often turn to Lovely as A Tree. I have made many quick cards in a pinch with the various tree stamps and have to say that even though it's one of the first Stamp sets I ever owned, I still enjoy it and would probably never part with it. I wish that my picture would capture the beautiful glints of the Dazzling Diamonds on this card. The picture does not do it justice at all and although I am not at all tooting my own horn, this simple card is GORGEOUS to the naked eye!!!! "Naked eye"!! hehe!!...........that's really all that was naked as I was constructing this card...........REALLY!!!!............just thought it sounded more metaphorical than.........."in reall life" !

Anway, go check out the Christmas Diva's Creations by following the link on my sidebar!!! There are some Beauties on there today!!!

Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Sentiment is a SU Rub on
Paper:l Night of Navy, White, Bashful Blue, SAB DP

Well it was just like Christmas here on Friday when a big old chubby package arrived for me in the Mail!!! New Rubber from STAMPOTIQUE ! I had the chance to spend time with Carol and Jim Ramsey at CHA California. They are such a lovely couple and I feel very privileged to be able to design for them.

This sweet image is called Give the Dog a Bone and is by Maryse Carrier.

I just couldn't wait to get this little fella all inky!!!! I also knew that my DCWV Pet Stack Paper would work really well with this image and sketch. I coloured the image with Copics, using my white gel pen to highlight and sponging Cool Caribbean and Certainly Celery ink around the image. I used a Copic Fine liner to create the blades of grass.

Look at his sweet little face!!!!! Watch for more Stampotique images coming up soon !!!!!!

BLog Candy Winners and a challenge for more Blog Candy!

I find myself challenged to use no more than a smidgen of Orange on any of my creations. I think I have only went through about one full packet of Pumpkin Pie Paper over the several years that I was a Stampin Up! demo. I just don't get drawn to solid orange at all. I have found many yummy DP"s that had bits of orange, but to simply make an orange card, well. it's not in my creative databank at all.

So yesterday after stamping this sweet little lantern from the Our Craft Lounge Oriental Garden set, I thought hmmmm I should make the roses in the lantern orange, thus the birth of a Orange Card!!!!!

Don't know why I have an aversion to orange. Maybe it's because when I was little, I used to really like Orange Soda, until one day I got very carsick after drinking it............hmm well probably not, but I know I don't fancy fish and chips and orange pop anymore, think I became a Coke and Burger Girl after that!

So my Challenge to you is to create a card using primarily orange with one accent colour. Link your creation to this post and I will randomly choose a winner from all the entries. Not sure what the Candy will be, but I'll make it sweet!!!! You have until next Sunday at 10:00 a.m. to make the link.

Card Recipe:

Stamps: Our Craft Lounge, Small Sayings
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip and Basic Grey DP
Ink: Momento Black, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Copics, Copic Spica pens, Oval Punch-lrg and Scallop, Choc Chip Ribbon

And now for last weeks Blog Candy winners!

The winner of the Hanna Stamps Blog Candy is Shannon at Desert Designs.

Awesome card Vicki! So cute and I LOVE the pink!
Since you've showcased a wedding card, my chosen good luck story is my husband! He was assigned a summer internship in my hometown and needed a place to rent for the summer. As "luck" would have it I had job-shadowed a local real estate agent who knew my Dad had a small attached apartment for rent. The rest is history as they say...and that was 15 years ago this summer. :)

Please PM me your mailing addy at vickig@kos.net

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Week 8

It's only March and I now have 8 Christmas Cards completed for this year!!! Joining this blog group was an EXCELLENT idea, however it just occured to me that most of my cards have been 6x6, which means more postage!!!! hmmmm must remember to make quarter fold cards!!!!

The challenge this week was to create a scene using Designer Paper. Gave me a good excuse to pull out my rarely used Cricut machine and put it to work!

So, I started by making the Trees and the scenery and then I needed to determine where I was going to go with this card. Then I thought that wee Tree cutting Riley would look pretty cute in this venue!

I coloured him and cut him out, mounting him on my heavily stitched layout. The Tree DP is from Crate paper, the Snowflakes from Bo Bunny Press

Here is a little close up image, if you look really close, you may be able to spot the difference between the two photos!!!! lol............I love those puzzles.........they run one in People Magazine and it's the first place I go to after reading the "scoop" page.

Anyway, hope you like my little creation. Don't forget to follow the links to the Other DT blogs..........such fun ideas!!!! We have two new additions to our Team

Cathy from My Creative Space and my super talented friend Jodi from Inked Inspirations

I will be cutting of the entries for the Blog Candy in my two previous Posts and will choose winners sometime in the early evening............. I'll announce the winners tomorrow
If you haven't entered yet, leave a comment!

Our Creative Corner-Limited Supply Challenge

This week's hostess, Kim Teasdale, has created another fabulous challenge… she has challenged us to a Limited Supplies Challenge. Here are the rules: You may use any paper including designer papers but are only able to use a maximum of 3 layers (including your stamped image), 1 type of embellishment (buttons or brads or ribbon, etc), any stamps that you like and sentiments are optional.

This was a challenge. Only ONE embellishment!!!! lol...... I had to think about which one to choose, that would give me the most Bang for my Buck. I decided that I had better start with a Patterned Card Base and Dug out these We R Memory Keepers Kitchen Cards, that way, I would feel as if I had a little texture there!

I stamped the image from the Pink Cat Studio, Lily and Tweet Set and coloured with Copics, sponging over the image with Creamy Caramel Ink after. The sentiment is a SU! Rub on. Multi Layers of Riding Hood Red Ribbon which has a little ivory trim made me feel like I had a little more on my card. I had an additional layer behind the main image, but actually preferred the look of the two layers only.............hmmmm I wonder if I get a prize for really limiting myself here...................hehe.........just kidding!!!

I have developed a wee obsession with my white Gel Pen............. I just find that it seems to bring a little more life to the images!!!!

Head on over to Our Creative Corner to view the beautiful creations our talented Design Team have dished up this week.

Have a wonderful Saturday and if you haven't been to my blog in the last several days, or ever before, the two previous posts offer Blog Candy if you leave a comment!

Happy Stamping,

Stamp or be Stamped! 80,000 hits deserves some Blog Candy!

I was excited to see that my Blog counter read 80,000 hits this morning......yipeeeee! So, in order to celebrate, I am giving away a little treasure package to one random winner........
I have a Congrats set, which is a lovely new Sale a Bration set from Stampin' up and I am going to up the booty with some sweet surprises................no, not Lucky Charms, but some other little stamping goodies.

Leave a wee comment on my Blog and I will pick a random winner on Monday.

I used two stamp sets for this card, Pirate Hanna and Wee Hanna. First, I stamped Wee Hanna, masked her out and then Stamped Pirate Hanna and the Treasure Chest on either side of her. I coloured with Copics and then sponged some Creamy Caramel to create some sand underneath them. I covered a Chipboard Skelton with DP. My Friend Kim gave me the sweet little set last October, so it's about time I got around to using it. A Little Hemp Rope completes the look.
The sentiment is included with Pirate Hanna

Also, if you are the sweet lady that sent me an email about my cards, I must apologize that I didn't get back to you as I accidently deleted your message (the perils of being a blackberry virgin!) so I am terribly sorry and if you email me back, I have become more adept with my bb in the last couple of weeks!

Have a great day and don't forget to come back tomorrow..................I'll have something fun for you then too!!!!!

Happy Stamping

Paper Trunk Tuesday

I have been making far too many Sympathy cards lately. I don't think it was long ago that I had posted a few. I am torn about how I feel about making them. Part of me doesn't like it because what they represent, yet I think that if they bring a sense of comfort to the receiver, then that is definitely a good thing!

I thought this Designer Paper would make a good background for the Tree image. I just purchased this Thoughts and Prayers Stamp set from SU! recently because I have been making so many Sympathy cards. I used both sides of the paper, which is Alluring, from the Paper Trunk Batik Collection. I mounted this on a base of Burgandy Cardstock.

I used the Really Large Oval punch, along with the new Scalloped Oval from Stampin up!

Really, these were fairly simple cards to put together, but I think they they are quite subdued and elegant................

See you tomorrow, with something more cheerful

Happy Stamping

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long - Week Seven-Do it yourself!

Good morning! Had a lovely little trip away this weekend. We attended my cousin's baby shower in Pembroke, which is about three hours northwest of home. My cousin Nikki, is expecting a little boy, Jensen James to arrive around the 23rd of April.

One of my favourite memories of Nikki was that on the weekend of her sixth Birthday her Mother Karen brought her up to my apartment in Whitby. We piled into my new Mustang and headed off to Canada's Wonderland for the day..........burnin' up the pavement in my new wheels.

Funny, but on the way to Pembroke, I had an appointment at the car dealership to talk about what I was going to do when my lease expired in a few months. I had been thinking about whether to keep my truck, purchase a new one and in the back of my mind I was thinking how nice it would be to have another Mustang. So we got there and I test drove a couple of cars with my Mother (she was also having to decide what to do with her vehicle within the next few months) and then I took this baby out.

Well, I really like my truck, but within less than a minute of being behind the wheel of this Beauty, I KNEW that it had to be mine! It's a convertible to boot! I pick it up later this week yipeeeeee.

It's a funny coincidence that I would purchase a Mustang on the way to Nikki's shower. See the SOLD sign in the window??? It's for me!!!! lol! Yeah, I am just a WEE bit excited...............Perhaps I will remotely resemble a Rock Star in this baby????!!!

Anyway, the shower was lovely. We don't take the time often enough to get together with my aunt and cousins, but we always enjoy our time together!

In the back row is my Cousin Suzanne and my Aunt Mary. In the front is the expectant mommy to be Nikki, who will be 27 this year (we have all been fairly blessed with the "youthful gene") My mom, who just turned 69 last month, me and My cousin Karen.

Ohhh and the reason that you came??? the CARD!!!!

This week was a Do it yourself Challenge. Maria challenged us to create our own Sketch. I have had this Snowman image in a drawer for five years and never.........yes NEVER used it. So I thought it was time I blew the dust off of it and inked it up! The actual image is the Snowman Face with the words Frosty surrounding it. As you can see, I paper peiced the letters with two different papers from the My Minds Eye Christmas Stack, which I also used in two bigger sections on the card. My Base Colours were Chocolate Chip and Soft Sky. I cuttle bugged one portion of Soft Sky paper to add dimension to the card. I stamped the sentiment onto Soft Sky and punched it out with the Large Oval punch, layering it onto a brown scalloped section. Some Snowflake Brads and of course more of the Delicious Satin ribbon finish it off quite nicely!!!!

Happy Stamping!

Our Creative Corner-Add a Doodle!

I was totally THRILLED this week to receive an email from Jennifer Meyer asking me to be a part of the Our Creative Corner group. I have admired many of the members artwork over the last year and cannot believe I will be playing with such a talented group of Ladies! I do have the privilege of working on the Hanna Stamps Design Team with Cindy and Frances and am very excited to be joining them on the team along with the other AMAZING Stampers!

Kim Teasdale is the Hostess for the Month of March and she has come up with some delicious challenges for you!

The challenge this week is to "Add a Doodle" that is, to add some doodling somewhere on your card. I immediately thought of black with white gel pen doodles and using a funky Stampotique image came to mind. Seeing that I was a little concerned about going "Doodle Happy", I just stuck to doing a little doodley doo up in the corner of the card.

Truth be told, I am a incessant "doodler". I doodle when i am talking on the phone, when I am in meetings and pretty much any time I have a pen or pencil in my left hand. I have a little square book that I carry in my bag, just for the purpose of jotting down inspiration for projects and to doodle when the mood strikes me. So I was quite pleased to participate in this challenge and again ecstatic just to be on the team!

Wait until you see the Beautiful Creations on the Our Creative Corner Blog . You can also see the details on how to link your creations to the blog. As well, you can visit the member blogs by clicking on the links on my sidebar!

If you are new to my Blog, Thanks so much for visiting today! and if you are coming back again......I really appreciate your support and kind words!

Card Recipe

Stamps: Stampotique Baby Cakes, SU! Amazing to Zany
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Neenah White, Basic Black
Accessories: Copics, M's Ribbon, Jelly Roll Glitter Pen, Build a brad clear top
Making Memories Brad, White Gel Pen and Daisy Cuttlebug

Happy Stamping!
