Krafty Tulips

How are all my Crafty friends today?

I had some time to create, so I combined two Splitcoaststamper Challenges
Using Scallops on a Clean and simple card and Watercolouring on Kraft Paper
I coloured this gorgeous TULIPS stamp after embossing it in white. I used an aquapainter and my Derwent Pencils. The sentiment is from an IOstamps Clear Set: Sympathy Sentiments

I really like the intensity of the Derwent Pencils on the Kraft Paper.

Have an amazing day!

Hearts Abound-February Mixed Media Art Challenge

In the past few months, I've really enjoyed delving into the world of Mixed Media.
It allows me to go to places i've never been and to experiment with fun techniques.
I'm loving the free expression of my creativity. I've never been what you call a "technique" oriented stamper, but rather preferred colouring, a cleaner style and a more "white bread" approach to paper crafting. So this Art Journalling Calendar Project is perfect for me!!!!

For my page, I started with a Heart Stencil and sprayed using Tattered Angels Glimmer Spray. Taking the advice of my mixed media mentor Kim Pargeter, I didn't waste the ink on the stencil and ended up with that fun white space to the right hand side of the Calendar Page. I found it just a touch too pink, so I used a couple of Impression Obsession Stamps to add a little more depth and then sponged with Vintage Photo ink around the page. The Two stamps I used:

Then I punched out the Circles and Hearts with some Pink Paislee Paper, inked around the edges and adhered it to the background. Using my Foutain Pen and Chocolate Ink, I outlined the edges of the punch outs, to give them more dimension. I added a touch of Doodling, as well as hand lettering the Title. To finish up, I sponged and added the Cupid Die Cuts and the Floral Heart Strip and some Corner Metal Stickers from Close to my Heart. I'm Happy with the way the page turned out.

Art Journalling seems to be my new Solace.

Stay tuned for more...........

I {Heart) You- Impression Obsession Challenge

This week's challenge at Impression Obsession is a Valentine's Challenge

As you know, I am a fan of Hearts!!!

I created this layout in Memory of my Beautiful Grandmother

The Photo is Circa 1939

Grandma was in her 19th year. This picture was taken either shortly before or early into her pregnancy with my Mother. She was an absolutely stunning woman, even into her 80's. Her Bright Blue eyes never fading. I definitely inherited my love of crafting and music from her and am so grateful for that. I know she watches over me and that is a comfort.

For this Layout, I used the following Stamps"

and if you look closely on the tag and banner,
Hanging Notes. Rather than stamp right down on the paper, I rolled the foam mounted stamp "here and there"

I used Paper from the Paper Loft, Gentler Times Collection and was inspired by the sketch  that I posted on the blog yesterday

The Flowers and "Love Brads" are From Prima Marketing Inc.

I also used some Dylusions Ink Spray to Muddy up the Paper a bit
and
Vintage Photo Ink for Distressing!

Be sure to play along in the I <3 a="" and="" challenge="" href="http://mitrafriant.typepad.com/impression_obsession_news/" post="" submissions="" you="" your=""> HERE

Sweet Cherubs!!!!

Isn't it the SWEETEST????

My Central focus for this card is the

the smaller pink heart is the inner piece from the Heart Flourish Die

and of course Heart Dies from the Heart Set

That's a lot of "Hearty" Goodness.......hehe!!
I love the Clean and Simple Style of this card

To give the sentiment and touch more pizzazz, I Stamped it twice. First on the Card Front in Black.
I then stamped a second time on Pink with Black ink, colouring the letters in red ( I love the pink/red combo) before mounting them on Dimensionals!!!

That's it for today!!!!

Today I wanted to Feature  Some of the "Zenspirations" Stamps

This Zenspiration Alphabet is Hot Diggity Bomb!!!!

I can see myself using it a LOT!

It's very Art Journally, isn't it?

After Making my Background with Ink Sprays from Dylusions, I added some Texture Paste and Glitter as well as a Fun Tree Stencil to create my snowy Scene

I Heat embossed some "Damask" Snowflakes to compliment the Heat Embossed Alphabet! ("A")

In my mind, a Sweet Snowman always compliments a wintery scene!

Clarity

It's a new Day, a new Year

Rather than making resolutions, which are often quickly forgotten I choose to allow my focus to draw me to a word. Last Year, I searched and searched for the perfect word. The word carried me through the year in that it gave me a sense of comfort

Over the last few days, I pondered over what word would guide me this year and I was having difficulty really, as there are many wonderful words that can act as a guiding principle. None of them felt just right.

In a moment of tranquility, in the soft silence my word came to me............

Clarity

Clarity is the quality of being clear, in particular the quality of coherence and intelligibility.

Clarity is the quality of being certain or definite.

Clarity is the quality of transparency or purity

This Year, I choose not to search for the answers, but rather pay attention to my Universe

To focus on my spirituality as opposed to my worldly needs.

To nourish my soul in an effort to gain peace of mind, focus and to have a better energy to effect others around me. With Clarity comes a better understanding of purpose: self purpose, purpose of relationships, the purpose of personal goals.

Letting go of the negative thoughts and feelings that interfere with one's ability to move forward on the path that lies ahead

This year, I will quit searching for answers that perhaps don't even exist

This year, I will allow myself to live with less thought. Not be be less thoughtful, but rather slowing down to just enjoy my moments and interactions rather than missing the emotions as I over process and often attempt to intellectualize my environment, my relationships, my being

2014 is  my Year to be certain

Clarity

What word will guide you this year?
