CPS 267

Boy oh boy, I've been in the mood for Bright and Cheery as of late! Nothing wrong with cheery right? Guess it's better than gray and gloomy! I can't resist this pretty Hello Summer paper by Echo Park. I LOVE summer!!!!

I love the Vivid Greens of Summer Foliage in contrast against the background of neutral earth tones

Purple has got to be one of my favourite colours visually and the vibrance against the crisp white is so pretty!!!!

Here is the sketch if you'd like to play along. Be sure to load up your creation on the CPS site!

My card centers around this fun sentiment from the Phrases2say stamp set
I used the scalloped circle Framelits from Sizzix. I added a little twist to this by using a circle cutter to cut around the inside of the larger circle, leaving a little on each side to create a fun dimensional frame!
I also used Stephanie's Pennant Framelits-Scalloped and Regular to follow the pattern along for the sketch
Do you like the dimension in the orange patterned paper? That's one of Stephanie's new embossing folders. Just lovin' it too! Well, it's a scorcher already! Doesn't bother me though, the heat, sun and a little rain makes everything brighter!

Have a WONDERFUL day!

Crazy 4 Challenges 138- Single Layers

Barbara is back with her final challenge for the month.

I'm also sad to say that this will be my final C4C card for awhile. I'm going back to School!!!
I've decided it's time to complete my Psychology degree, so for the next 18 months or so, I'll be working fairly steadily to obtain the final four credits I require to complete my BA

That means that you'll see fewer blog posts from me for the next little while. I have immensely enjoyed working with these talented crazy ladies and hope that after a long hiatus, I'll make a return!

Soooo onto the challenge!

It's a One Layer Card, one layer period. That means your base card is IT! No base card and another layer, that counts as two layers for this challenge's purposes. Embellishments are allowed .... Die cuts, flowers, ribbon, whatever, just keep the one layer thing kind of simple.

For my card, I created a Faux Layer , by cutting a "stencil" with a die cut and stamping this fun. I stamped with Spun Sugar Distress ink and sponged the inner edges of the stencil. I added some blingy rhinestones and cut two fabulous butterflies and a leafy branch with my  newImpression Obsession Dies. The sentiment is from the Life & Flowers Clear Stamp Set. Quick and Easy!!! I used Gorgeous DP from The Crate Paper Pretty Party Pad!!!

If you decide to play along with us, all you have to do is create a card/project, and upload it to your blog and/or to your SCS Gallery using the keyword C4C138. Don't forget to go back here and link it on Mr Linky so that everyone else can see it too.
and be sure to visit the crazie's blog to see their amazing creations!

Going to miss you Crazy Girls!!!

Impression Obsession Challenge-Showing Care and Concern

WOW! I can't believe it's Thursday already! It seems the older I get, the more quickly the days and weeks go by. One more sleep and we'll be enjoying a long weekend here. YAY!!! That should mean some fishing for me!!! What are you all up to this long weekend?

Today's IO challenge is to create a card that shows care and concern. This challenge was perfect for me this week as my Father asked me to create a sympathy card and a get well card for him. My parents are both so good to me that when they ask for cards, I'm quick to deliver!!!! The get well card was created with this gorgeous Six Dandelions stamp. I embossed the image with White embossing powder and sponged tone on tone ink to accentuate the embossing. If you look really close at the background, you can see that I also used the Dandelion Seed background on the designer paper. I can see myself using this stamp over and over for some quick and easy, yet elegant cards. The sentiment is from the Get Well Wishes Cling set.  The Designer paper is an old stack that I have from K&Co.

My Second card is very simple and understated, but quite elegant. I was taking my photos late last night, so the picture really doesn't do it justice. The sentiment takes on the focal point of the card and can be found in the Treasured Memories cling set. The small bird is from the No place like home Cling set. I cut out the sweet little bird with the matching Die

Make sure that you head on over to the IO blog to get all the details for the challenge and find out who else has some pretty samples to share! Make sure you scroll down a bit to check out the fabby Tutorial on how to use the dies from our very own sweetheart Shirley!

CPS 265- All Star!

Did I happen to mention how much I LOVE this weeks sketch? Seriously, it took me WAY more time to take a picture and do this blog post than to make this fun, quick and simple card. I immediately thought of the Quick2border stamp set, when I saw the sketch and built my card around that, adding the stars and sentiment from the All4stars set, both from The {Stamps} of life. I decided to make it in my Son's School colours as seeing that he only participated in one Rugby Match before he got written off for the summer, I thought I'd give him a little pick me up!!!

As far as his concussion therapy is going, he has shown some improvement, but it looks like the road to recovery might be a little longer than he hope. He wont be able to play sports this summer, but if all goes well, he'll be back in action for fall Football! He's coaching with his minor league team, so at least he's getting a little bit of a sports fix!!! I'm missing the camaraderie of the sports mom's and dads that i've become acquainted with through the years, but I just pray that he continues to see positive results from the physiotherapy and the attention of the sports Physician.

To see the sketch and play along, be sure to hop on over to the CPS blog to get all the details!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! I wanted to share the little gift that I made for my Mother this year. When my Girlfriends were down for Victopia weekend, Kim was working on a pocket watch project that she's going to be teaching at the end of May at Scrapping Great Deals. I picked up a watch and worked right along with her. I scanned the picture in the locket cut it with an appropriate sized die cut and added the small flower and some mica chips inside the watch. The chain is from Making Memories and the Bauble and Watch are from Tim Holtz. Kim taught me how to die the Seam Binding with some Tim Holtz Distress Stain. I sure hope she likes it. It's a picture of my Beautiful Grandmother and her. I'm assuming it was taken sometime in 1940 as she doesn't look to be a year old yet! I LOVE the picture. I punched the tiny tag with my SU punch and added the always sentiment in black. A very easy and elegant project.

We'll be missing Grandma today on Mothers day, but I'm blessed to have my beautiful Mother, full of life and with me! We're going to have a little BBQ today and enjoy some family time.

I just have to say that she is one Beautiful and amazing lady!

Happy Mother's Day Gorgeous!

Crazy4Challenges 136-Im inspired by.......

This week's challenge is posted by our May Hostess with the Mostest Barbara!!! She provided us with the pretty inspiration piece below and said " Let this picture inspire your creation. For example, make a round card, or round elements , go with the colours or the small prints-Go Country-wherever this picture takes you, follow it. The photo inspired me to create this little country scene using these fabulous new stamps and matching dies from Impression Obsession

Supplies:

Sponges,
Versamark and White embossing Powder
Brads-Bo Bunny

To I created a small house card by doubling over my paper, leaving a little edge to the left of the die!!! How Fun!!! I embossed the Fence on the background of the card. I can't wait to use the matching Die Cut, but couldn't with this creation as I wanted the card to open without interference! I created the roof by diecutting again in a complimentary colour and edging the bottom of the roof with a MS border punch!!!

I totally can't wait to play more with these fun and adorable stamps and dies!!!!

Here's the inspiration picture!

The interior view

and again!

Have a great weekend and be sure to follow the links on my sidebar to link up your own creation on the C4C site and see what my favourite Crazy chicks have been up to!

Stampotique Designer's Challenge 54. It's all in the Family

Kate is our hostess this week and here is what she says about her challenge this week:

For quite some time now, I have been thinking that some of the Stampotique characters remind me of a family gathering ...( er, no offence to any of my family members who may happen to be reading LOL!) So, with that in mind I set you a challenge to create something, anything, with the theme of family. It could be a greeting card, a journal page, an ATC .... whatever you like. Now, we've all got families but it means something different to each and every one of us, so you can be serious .... such as 'If sisters were flowers I'd pick you', or tongue in cheek... 'You pick your friends, not your family', or anything else that takes your fancy!
For my card, I created a Masculine Birthday Card that I will give to my Father. Doesn't it have a nostalgic feel? Using the Timeless Background Stamp as well as the Leaf stamp, the background is actually the focal point for this card. The sweet sentiment is from the Bo Bunny Weekend Market  Priceless Sticker Collection, the sweet brad in the middle of the seam binding is a cute clock from the Weekend Market  Brads. It's a pretty simple card, but I like it!!!

Ready to play for your chance to win a $30 gift certificate forStampotique stamps?
Please remember only one entry per person and our challenges should use Stampotique stamps only.  Please link directly to your creation using in linkz on the Stampotique Designer Challenge Site.

Happy Stamping!

CPS 264

Wanted to share my quick and easy card that I created for the Card Positioning System Challenge.
Using the fabulous sketch posted below, I whipped up this elegant card in a matter of minutes literally!
I was thinking that it would make a really nice graduation card. What do you think?

I used several elements from the BO Bunny Market place collection

A HUGE thank you to Sheila over at Scrapping Great Deals for the lovely Designer package that she sent down with Kim. It had almost the WHOLE  Bo Bunny Weekend Market line in it, so you are going to see quite a few projects with this delicious paper and all the accessories!!!

for this card, I used:

Bo Bunny weekend market 6x6 paper
Flower-Misc

Here's the sketch if you'd like to play along!

Be sure to head over to the CPS blog with the deets on linking your card up and to see the fabulous Designers' interpretation of the sketch!!!

Crazy4Challenge 135-The great outdoors!

I was just thinking about how lovely the weather has been as of late! What a perfect challenge for a warm spring day!!! Our challenge to you is to create a card with an outdoor or garden theme!!!

These stamps of life stamps and dies are perfect for that!!!! I love Steph's Dragonfly die cut that coordinates with the Butterfly2build and Creations2fill stamp set. The wing stamps for the butterfly also coordinate with some of her floral sets! how cool is THAT!!!!!

I also used a Spellbinders Label Die and the pretty Memory Box Circle Floral Die, both available at Scrappin' Great Deals!!!!

I decided not to put a sentiment on the card yet, because I'm not sure what I plan to do with it. The ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon!!!!

Soooo it's been pretty hectic around here. I want to get around to posting some gorgeous photo's from Victopia weekend, but it's been a crazy week with Jon's appointments, dealing with the resource teacher at the school, the physiotherapist, the tutor and work!! Unfortunately Jon took a hit to the head at Football tryouts a couple of weeks ago, which seemed to reactivate a concussion that he had incurred in the fall. I've now learned more about concussions, their effects and the rehabilitative process. Fortunately, physiotherapy can be helpful in the healing process.

Here are a couple of pictures of Jon at his session

Fortunately the concussion hasn't seemed to affect his fine motor skills......lol

He's been doing a lot of relaxing as of late.....no video games, very little t.v. and other than walking, no exercise!!! He's missing Rugby this spring, but has been to a game to cheer on his teammates.

He found the heat therapy VERY HOT!!! He's a warm blooded fella, so he thought he would surely not make it very long with the heat pack around his neck. He did say that he felt very good afterward though!

I'll keep you all posted with his progress.

Hope you'll play along with the challenge. Please click on the links on my sidebar to check out the other crazy creations and to link up your creations on the blog!

Impression Obsession May Release!

This is Jeff.......apparently he lost his marbles, but it seems that he found them again! I can relate to Jeff 'cause when it comes to remembering things, well sometimes I don't do so well. It's really not the important things that I forget...just things like where I put my car keys, what I ventured into the kitchen for, what was it that I was going to look up on the internet......a sign of getting older, or perhaps too much aspartame!!!!  Geeeez, I almost forgot why I'm here writing this blog post (just kidding). Jeff is a little cutie patootie stamp that's being released today at Impression Obsession!!!! I love this little guy with his wavy hair and sack of marbles. I remember the days when marbles were a very cool toy. Long before video games and ipads, interactive reading toys and when Fisher Price made those cool telephones on wheels with the bobbly eyes that would blink as you pulled it along the floor. The slinky, yoyo's and Silly Putty!!! That was when I had to walk over a mile to school, uphill both ways. Four trips a day. Home for lunch ONLY because the Flintstones were on and when the show was over, it was time to make the long trek back to school for the afternoon. I'd get home just in time for Dark Shadows. We lived in an old Victorian House and on the days that my mom was working, i'd get a little creeped out waiting for her to come home and wondering if any  ghosts would come sauntering down the oak staircase. It was only on the days that she was home that I'd try to sneak in a few slides down the bannister!

I coloured Jack with my Touch Markers and have included the colour combinations here for you. I used some pearl pen to create the marbles and to add an interesting border to the designer paper, which is from Echo Park. Be sure that you head over to the Impression Obsession blog to get all the details with regard to the release and to see who's created some fun samples for you!

Happy Stamping!
