SDC39: Humorous Birthday

Sooooooooooo I get to be the Challenge Hostess over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge today! I actually picked this date, because today's my Birthday AND it's fun to host challenges! As I'm not getting any younger, I could use a good chuckle, so the challenge today is to create a humorous Birthday Card. Something Sarcastic, Witty, Funny or perhaps just using an image that makes you giggle........something like this hilarous 3 Smiles Image. I must tell you that I was initially a little intimidated with this image ( you should see the amazing works of art with this stamp by my fellow DT members) but when I saw it, it made me laugh~

I had intentions of making a cool background to go behind it, but then I kind of liked it as is, Black on White........I added a little gem in one of the smiles for additional bling, but other than that, this card is quite simple.......... I stamped the Altered Happy and paired it with the "unbirthday" portion of the Happy UnBirthday sentiment

On the inside of the card, again I kept it very plain using one of my favourite sentiments (ermmmm it's not always a joke for those of us who are getting up there and have had children!)  along with this cute little fellow from Janet Klein , who's name is Titus. He's red in the face, 'cause I think he may have peed.......just a little!!!
Bear with me, It's my Birthday so I'm affording myself some silliness!

Anyhow, we'd love you to play along with our Challenge. It's a Stampotique Stamps only Challenge this week, so ink up your stamps and you could be the winner of a Gift Certificate. Be sure to link up your creation on the Stampotique Designer Challenge Blog

Have a wonderful day and eat cake, like it's your Birthday too!

There's no place like home

Another Share for you today!!! I picked up this AMAZING...........can you say AMAZING Graphic45 Magic of Oz Collection Paper when I was up for a visit to SGD in August. I have to tell you that The Wizard of Oz is my ALL TIME Favourite move, so I squealed with excitement when I saw this Fabbooooo Release from Graphic 45.

I have been teased a little over the years for admitting how much I love the Wizard of Oz, but was validated when I discovered that it is apparently Johnny Depp's favourite movie as well. Well you don't get much cooler than Johnny Depp in my eyes!!!!

Each Wednesday I get a notification for the Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers

When I saw the sketch, I knew it would be perfect to display these fun cutouts from the Journey to Oz paper.
I also used the reverse side of Tender Hearted Tin Man and the Yummy Gingham from Yellow Brick Road

You can get the whole collection of papers in 12x12 and 8x8

I used the long Chipboard Sentiment from The Magic of Oz Tags 2. I sponged Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy Ink to all the edges to soften them a wee bit. Lastly, I took the Tiny Oz Symbol from The Magic of Oz Tags 1 Collection. A little Stitching just sets everything off I think!

Finished Card is 8.5 x 5.5..........had to make it big to fit it all in!

Have fun creating~

Crazy4Challenges 106-SPOOOOOKY!

Hi everyone,

Barb's back with another fun challenge for us all today. It's not too soon to start on Halloween projects. Today's challenge is to make a Halloween card or decor project. If you don't "do" Halloween, then let's see another Fall project.

I coloured up this sweet digi image from Tiddly Inks with my Touch Twin Markers. I have been so pleasantly surprised with the depth of colour that I've been achieving and the way that they blend so easily. I added a touch of Jelly Roll Stardust Pen to places in the dress and hat for a little bit of glitz~ The BOO sentiment is from The {Stamps}of Life- Spooky2Scare Additionally I used Stephanie's inks in Licorice and Grape and I'm crazy about them too~

Here's my colour map if you'd like to see what I've done with this image

Additional Supplies include: Fleur de Lis Nestabilities rectangles, Martha Stewart Border Punch . Basic Grey Eerie DP, SU! Star Punch and Dew Drops.............notice the little skullies in my main pic??? If you were here last Saturday, you would have seen them in my project............amazing that they lasted another week in my house!!!!

If you decide to play along with us, all you have to do is create a card/project and upload it to your blog and/or to your SCS Gallery using the keyword C4C106. Don't forget to go back to the C4C blog and link it on Mr Linky so that everyone else can see it too.

Stampotique Meets CAS-ual Fridays

I created this not so CAS card for the Challenge over at the CAS-ual Friday's Blog
The Challenge this week is to use three shades of one colour and a splash of chocolate brown.

I managed to get the colour parts correct, but kind of got carried away and lost sight of the CAS part............oh well, something to aim for next time!

For my card I used this fabulous new image from Maryse Carrier. I am a Snowman FREAK, so this little Snow Family  is right up my alley!!! I added this sweet little sentiment that you can find HERE in the Stampotique Store. Love this one, 'cause it fits so tidily into my word window punch!

I coloured this Yummy Confection with my Touch Twin Markers. Have you played the Challenge yet? One lucky winner will get a set of 12 fabulous markers! You have until the 25th to enter your submission.

Here's my colour map:

Additional Supplies on the card include a dollar store snowflake, white Sakura Gel Pen, Soft Sky Dye Ink. Licorice Ink by Stephanie Barnard for Color Box. I'm excited to say that I can colour with my markers with no bleed!!!! DP is some I had kickin' around and Cardstock from Bazzil and Stampin up!

Don't forget to check out the Stampotique Designer's Blog to see my Fabby Co designers amazing CAS creations!

FSC36 It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Well, not really looking like Christmas yet............please, no snow for awhile!!!! But it is beginning to look like I need to be getting a head start on some of my Christmas Projects. I've been working on a fun little boxed album with the My Minds Eye Lost and Found Christmas Collection, but I'm not quite finished yet, so I've decided to show you a fun little project that i've completed with some fun pieces of the collection.

Before I get started on telling you about this project, If you want to play along with the Flower Soft Challenge, you can find ALL the details HERE.  I have to apologize for the photographs. I wasn't getting a good result in my lightbox last night, so I tried this outside. I have some ideas about how I might improve the quality of shooting glass bulbs, but I'll experiment with that another day. I love the kit, which includes 9 of the yummiest Christmas papers I've ever seen and a sheet of Die Cut Tags, one of which I've used as a Focal Point for my ornament.

Are you wondering how I did this? It's actually quite quick and easy. To suspend the Die Cut Tag in the Ball, I cut a circle that is about an inch and a half larger out of acetate. I then glued the die cut to the lower third of the acetate circle. I punched a tiny hole in the top center of the acetate and after filling the ball with Gold Flower Soft I placed some fine thread through the punched hole and threaded it up through the center of the fitting, wrapping it around several times to secure it.

I fashioned the embellishment for the outside of the bulb by creating a Rosette with my Tim Holtz Mini paper rosettes die with this paper. and secured the rosette to some Wide Ribbon. The little Santa Brad just tops off the rosette nicely I think! As I said, quick and easy. Probably the most time consuming part of this project, is getting the image centred in the ball.

Vintage Christmas-A Petal Card

I created this Petal Card for Monday's Try a New Technique Challenge over at Splitcoastsampers . You can find an awesome Tutorial by Beate Johns HERE

I cut my circles with  my Spellbinders Nested Heart Circles and cut the inner circles with  the Classic Circles
I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Corduroy Distress Ink and also added some ink the the stitching on the inner side of the card, since my bobbin thread is white.

I stamped the inner square with the MME Lost and Found Christmas Stamps

If you notice in the first picture, I created a Belly Band to hold the card together. For the main image and embellishments, I used the Die Cuts from the MME Christmas Kit as well as some Lace and ribbon I had here and a a matching Brad from the collection.

I really love the way this project turned out and hope to make some more for Christmas~!

Crazy 4 Challenges 105- Add a Pumpkin!

It's Saturday which means the "Crazies" are back with another fun challenge for you all.

Before we get into today's challenge, as this week is a sponsored challenge, we need to introduce this month's sponsor,  Creations by AR. Adela has some awesome templates on her site which I know the "Crazies" have had fun playing with for our challenge this week. I am also  very lucky to be a part of Adela's Challenge Team!  The templates come in all formats: PDF, SVG and DXF so that you can use them with your electronic die cutting machines or cut by hand if you don't have a machine. This week's winner will receive two templates of their choice from Creations by AR.

Adela has also offered our blog readers a 10% discount on all her templates during this challenge so that is from September 17th to September 23rd. All you need to do is use the code: challenge10 when you go through the check out.

Photobucket

Now it is time for our challenge, Barb is back with another fun fall themed challenge for us all! This week all you have to do is create a card or project with a pumpkin on it in some form. It can be a card or 3D project.

If you decide to play along with us, all you have to do is create a card/project and upload it to your blog and/or to your SCS Gallery using the keyword C4C105

For my project, I started with Adela's Slotted Gift Box. Because I have a Cricut and the Make the Cut Program, I find that the PDF format works best for my cutting needs.
I used some very fun stamps from the {Stamps} of  life, Solids4Halloween , Spooky2scare and  All4stars

I also got the Opportunity to work with Stephanie's Brand Spankin' new Color Box Inks Can you say YUMMY!!!!! I Totally LOVE these inks. I couldn't believe how vibrant the colour is and how juicy they are.
For this project I used Grape, Licorice and Tangerine.

Another thing I loved about the inks is the smooth effect that I achieved while sponging the edges of the box!!! I have worked with a lot of ink over the years and I have to say I'm totally impressed!

If you'd like to play along with us, be sure to follow the link on the sidebar to the C4C blog.

Now take a few and check out my Crazy Girl's Creations. I had a peek when I was uploading my projects and they're all delish!

SDC38 Black & White with a splash of colour!

This week is a new challenge issued by  my incredibly talented design team member Kaz.  Here is what she has challenged us with:

"I'm setting you another colour challenge as you all did such a good job of the last one. This time it's to use black and white and add just a hint of another colour. You can make anything you like.  This week is also a non-Stampotique stamps week for your chance at a $30 gift certificate for Stampotique stamps."
******************************************

I used just a little more than one hint of colour, but that includes the skin! The colour that I chose to use along with the black was a lovely rose red. I stamped Mela in Memento Black ink and coloured with my Brand Spankin' new Touch Twin Markers

Here are the shades I used...........for me that's just a wee splash! Wait until you see the Colour Map for Tomorrow's Project!  Four of the colours were for the skin alone.
I love the Blue Grey Series for Denims and the BG 1 is perfect for shading, not too blue, not too grey as you can see on her dress.

Sorry I can't give credit for the DP. It's a scrap that I've had around for ages. The little "love" brad is from Making Memories as well as the metal tag and wee brad that's attaching it!.

I used my Sizzix Border Die to make the black borders to the left of the card. A little White Gel Pen just gives the card a touch more oomph I think! Head on over to the Challenge Blog you can see the first group of designer projects there today!

Hope you have an amazing day! I'll be back tomorrow with another fabulous Challenge!

Happy Stamping!

Spooky Halloween Decor

Now here's something a little more "fallish" for you!!!! I was over at "M's" for a little saunter when I came across this adorable Metal Decoration. I knew that I wanted to do something fun with it, but wasn't sure quite what. When I received my September DT Stamps from The Stamps of Life, I knew they would be perfect for this project. I had also wanted to try a neat double embossing technique that I'd read about in a magazine and just happened to have some Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder on Hand.

For this technique I used the Tim Holtz Halloween embossing folders. First I dabbed the Embossing Folder (the bumpy side) with Versamark Ink, then I ran it through my Big Shot. I then sprinkled tht inked paper with Tim Holtz Weathered Wood Distress Embossing Powder and Heat Embossed. I also Heat embossed the Fence from Solids4Halloween and  with white embossing powder the sentiment from spooky2scare I Stamped the Pumpkin, also from Solids4Halloween in Pumpkin ink. I shaded the Eyes and Mouth with my YR33 Melon Yellow Touch Twin Marker from Shinhan Art Materials.

I added some pictures of Jonathon......... i think he was around 9 years old then. I have to tell you that Halloween pictures of Jonathon are scarce........he wasn't a big fan of Halloween. When he was wee, I'd dress him up and take him over to a few friends. I think the first time I was actually taking him door to door trick or treating was when he was about five years old. Because we live in a rather densely populated area, we headed up the road a mile or so to a little subdivision. I was SO excited to take him out. He looked absolutely adorable in his Halloween costume. A big fluffy Dragon from Costco. Apple Green with Huge Lemon Yellow Scales.......WAY too cute!!! We got out of the car and went to a door. I'm telling Jonathon he needs to say "Trick-or-treat" to get some candy, followed by "Thank you". As we're coming down the stairs, I'm talking this event up, so excited; off to the next house for more. As we walked down the drive, Jonathon who was showing his first signs of cynicism and I have to admit, sensibility looks up at me and says "Why are we doing this mom" I really don't like it much. You've told me not to take candy from strangers before, do you KNOW these people". Followed by "Besides, if I want candy, I know you will give me some". How could one argue with that? So that concluded our Trick-or treating adventure until about the age of nine, when he realized how much candy mom would give him would pale in comparison to the sugary crop he could harvest on All Hallow's eve. Yet still, this was short lived as by about the age of 11 or 12, he decided his need for candy was sufficiently satiated at home. Ahhh it's funny how crafting can evoke the fondest and funniest of memories. I'm going to start labelling my more personal posts for Jonathon, in the hopes that he can look back at the blog one day and share some of these fun stories with his babies!

The pictures in this project were taken at Minks Farm, a fun corn maze about 40 minutes from home. It was a beautiful day , the weather crisp and the sun warm. We made a few trips to Minks over the years to make our way through the maze and purchase pumpkins

See you tomorrow with a Challenge!

With a view like this, how can I think about Christmas Cards!

Before I share my project with you for today, I wanted to share the pretty view that we enjoyed on the lake last evening as we shared an AMAZING dinner with good friends.

As the sun started to set, the colours descended from the clouds; the most amazing hues of Mauves, Pinks and tangerine.

The reflections of colour on the water were equally beautiful.

As we enjoyed a relatively warm weekend and dinner on the deck, it got me thinking that I needed to really relish this moment, because before we know it, the water will freeze over and we'll be looking at a dusting of snow on the lake and a rather gray horizon line. It can get quite pretty out on the lake in the winter, but doesn't compare to the autumn sunsets; another reason why autumn is my favourite season.

With the change of the seasons, it's a good indicator that it's time to get a start on my Christmas Stamping

I created this card with  this lovely new Spellbinders Vintage Christmas card kit.
You simply use your coordinating Nestabilitie to cut out the fabulous preprinted images and away you go~! For this card I used Scalloped Ovals

Isn't the Designer Paper Pretty? It's from My Mind's Eye-Lost and Found Christmas Collection. I used Glitter Boughs and  Glitter Peace

A little touch of Flower Soft - in this case, Ultrafine Strawberryadds a touch of dimension.

The Sweet Brad in the middle of the vintage lace is from the MME Lost & Found Christmas Decorative Brad Collection. There are a LOT of fun fun pieces in this and you'll see some in future projects!

Hope you all have an AMAZING week and I'll be back soon with another creation!

Crazy 4 Challenges 104-The Colours of Autumn

This week Barb Anders is back with another fun challenge.

it's a color challenge and with Fall almost here we are taking our inspiration from these gorgeous fall colors. So make your card using the colors orange, olive green, yellow & brown.

For my card, I used this Beautiful Image  from Lablanche Stamps called Wandering Among Daisies that you can find at Scrappin' Great Deals. I'm very excited to be designing for Sheila and you will see some fun projects and products from time to time!  This Stamp is a Silicone Stamp. I've never used a stamp made of this material before, but it stamped beautifully.  The Designer Paper is from the Graphic 45  Le Romantique Collection,

I coloured my image with my  Shinhan Art Touch Twin Markers.. For this card, I used some of my Fine/Broad Point Markers (the markers in the black casing) for the small floral areas. I love the fact that the fine tip, is in fact very fine, allowing for blending in teeny tiny spaces and drawing fine lines around images as you can see in this Scrapbook Page by my dear friend Jeanne Streiff . The Other option are the Brush and Chisel Edges Markers (white casing) that have a lovely chisel point and firm brush, which are perfect for both small and large areas...............and of course backgrounds and techniques, which I hope to bring you lots of example of in the future

I then sponged Caramel Ink around the entire image to distress it a bit and keep with my Victorian looking theme.  The Sunflower, Sentiment, Buttons and Linen Thread are little goodies that I've had around for at least a Hundred years!!!!

Marker Colours Include

Y35, 37, 41, 141
BR 94,99, 107, 109
R 131
0-blender
G 43, GY175,
YR 21, 23, 29, 33

If you decide to play along with us, all you have to do is create a card/project and upload it to your blog and/or to your SCS Gallery using the keyword C4C104. Don't forget to go  back to the Challenge Blog and link it on Mr Linky so that everyone else can see it too.

Now let's see what the "Crazies" have come up with this week.......just follow the links on my sidebar and you will see some BEAUTIFUL creations!!!!

Have a wonderful Saturday! I'm excited because I'll be spending my day at the Football Scrimmage with Jonathon and I hear it's going to be warm and sunny!

Happy Stamping!

The Sun is shining on me today!

Why is it shining on me??? Because I have EXCITING NEWS TO SHARE.............oooops! Sorry, am I shouting??? Well that's because I have something REALLY EXCITING TO SHOUT ABOUT!!!!!

I have been bestowed the honour (and I mean that with the utmost of sincerity) to be working with a FABULOUS group of extremely talented designers on the Shinhan Arts Design Team.

I've had a couple of weeks to play with these fabulous art markers and I have to tell you that I am absolutely loving them. The colours are very vibrant, the ink as juicy as a ripe peach  and the barrel of the marker quite comfortable. You can view an awesome video HERE. Also you may want to check our Facebook Page for the most up to date information, links and fun contests and giveaways. You can also follow the links on my sidebar to see the Touch Twin Blog and The Company Website!

You may have noticed that in my last few posts, I've used the Touch Twin Markers, but I had to keep the DT stuff under my lid and I was just BUSTIN' to share the news!!! I created this simple card for a couple of reasons, I wanted to create something quickly to add to my announcement and I wanted the image to stand out. I used these fabulous stamps just recently released from Stampotique Originals: Under the Parapluie, by Maryse Carrier and the sweet matching sentiment  Rain Rain by Janet Klein.

I'll list the colours as i've used them

Cat: CG 1, 3
Dog: BR 97 and Y141
Bird: B143, B64, Y35
Grass: GY174 and 175
Umbrella: Y34, 37, 38 and 45
In addition I used a random button and Bakers Twine as well as Viva Pearl Pen in Kiwi.

Again, I can't tell you how thrilled I am about this!!! I'm not shouting now, I've had a little time to breathe and recover from all the cartwheels I performed when asked to be a part of this amazing venture!!!! I truly hope that you enjoy what you see here and all the amazing creations of my fellow Shinhan ARTisans~

Happy Stamping!
